Ashley Patten ran the hurdles and did field events in high school because she envisioned being a heptathlete in college. Pattens urge to high jump, sprint and throw quickly dissipated when she found success in the 800. At the University of Missouri she was a three-time All-American, four-time Big 12 champion, NCAA Mideast Regional Champion (800m?2006), and thirteen- time All Big 12. While part of the Mizzou Tigers team, Ashley evolved from having elementary interests in the whole track deal, to the phase where she became a key player/motivator, into the final position of dynamic leadership as Team Co-Captain. Her personal investment in her own performance became a substantial strength that she shared with her Mizzou teammates. Patten should feel a sense of accomplishment even though she is again a beginner in the post-collegiate level. Patten is currently training in Columbia with Rebecca Wilmes the Missouri Women?s distance/mid-distance coach.
