John Baumann was a 10 NAIA All-American and a three time letter winner in football while earning his degree from Doane College in Crete, Neb. In 1994 Baumann headed to the University of Illinois for the first time, where he coached the throwers. After his first stint in Urbana, Baumann headed east to George Mason University, where he coached the field events. In 1998 Buamann headed back to Illinois and guided the lady Fighting Illini to two school records and multiple All-American awards. In 2005 Baumann took over the throws for the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State and he also helps out with the sprints and jumps. In all Coach Baumann has helped 29 athletes earn All-American awards 19 conference champions and coached Rob Mussio when he represented the USA in the Olympics.
