I will admit right now that I am probably abusing my Flotrack blogging privileges a little bit right now, but it is for a great cause!
Every year at Highland Park High School our Track and Field team puts on a charitable event we call the 24 Hour Run. In this event, members of the Track team take turns running a mile at a time in an effort to raise as much money for the charity chosen to benefit that year. Athletes spend the month previous to the event going around school and our community collecting donations in the form of flat dollar amounts or per mile pledges. Last year the charity we benefitted was the Saving Tiny Hearts Society, we raised $19,600! In the 6 years since its inauguration the 24 Hour run has raised over $100,000 for different charitable foundations. This year we have chosen the Leukemia Research Foundation as the beneficiary. Our goal as always is to run over 240 miles in the 24 hour span and to raise over $20,000. We have set up a website where you can learn more about what we're doing. And there is an ONLINE DONATION section of the website, so please check us out and share this page. Thanks for reading! http://24hour-run.com/
