Triston ... Swimming will help tremendously with maintaining and improving your all-around conditioning ... My son is an exceptional Runner [11-Year Old and has run 17:59 for 5K] ... I credit the swim workouts for being pivotal in preventing injuries along with building tremendous Core Strength, Improved Lung Strength, and both Anaerobic / Aerobic Fitness ... If you're unable to run due to shin splints ... Get In The Water and Swim ... Swim Man ... Swim! I can't tell you what to do about the Wrestling ... Just remember the old wise saying ... He who chooses to be a jack of all trades shall be a master of none ... You must decide what you want to master.Andrew, thank you very much for your replies. Your son is a beast. i haven't been able to run that time at all yet. my fastest 3mile was 17:30 until i got injured. i believe if i continued training i could have gotten at least ten seconds off of that. I have fractures in my shin and i am unable to run for about 12 weeks.... the only reason why i like wrestling is because i am decent at it and i gain a nice amount of muscle and body tone... but i am willing to run all year but i cannot. I wish to be a master of running but it does not seem possible at this point, i will do swimming and once i heal in about three months i will resume my cross country training.. Hey Brah,Thanks bro, thats great advice. For now the only exercise i am able to do is swimming, once i am fully recovered i will begin building up my base for track and start running again. Running in hawaii is probably the best thing ever, the friendships and camaraderies you gain are unique and you can't find it anywhere else. were all an Ohana. thanks though bro, I miss training with you and running with you. We'll tear it up in track this year and summer track as well. its going to be awesome, I'm coming back with a thirst for washington blood |

Running should be year round ... If you want to become really good ... Swim 1 or 2 days a week as part of your training and development ... You can'be be a master of all things so if you want to wrestle, keep it recreational ... I ran in Hawaii while I was in the military ... Great Trails and great road races ... Aloha!Andrew, i have been planning to run all year but due to my stress fractures i am unable to do so. Do think the swim team will benefit me more or wrestling? |
