T and F Season Recap: Road to Almost Making Nationals

End of season Recap: Road To Almost making Nationals My Junior year of track started off pretty slow, and yet fast. I am primarily a distance runner when it comes time for outdoor track. Our first meet was in Lynchburg, Virginia; it’s about a two hour drive from Kutztown. We drive down there for the warmer weather since it is warmer down south! In this case it was only about 5 degrees warmer at the most. I ran the 1500 and 800 meter double. This is one of my favorite doubles even if I am not that good at it. My 1500 was a breeze, I got se...

Well, I will start out with our warm up. Every team has an individual that takes the warm up a little fast. Our team has a guy like that! I am now a junior, and I have learned a few things along the way. I have learned to take mywarm ups slow. We had a group of about six guys or so going fast, and then we had a group of two a little bit behind them. Well, I was not in either of those two groups. Two of my teamates and I went at an easy pace of about 740 to 800 minute pace. That is the way I like to run my warm ups and it ha...

Summer Training- Part 1

This is my second summer as a college student! I had a late start running for a team. Running was always a punishment for not performing at a game or during practice! The reason I joined track and field my junior year in high school was because the baseball team at my old school had no use for me to be a role player. I played baseball for 13 years beforehand, so this was a hard decision, but it was a chance to make more friends. Now I am about to become a Junior in college, COLLEGE! Wow, time sure flies. Now I have me...

Great Season, Devastating Finish!

I have had two great outdoor seasons to start off my collegiate career. I have put myself in position to score points each year! That's your job in the regular season, getting yourself to conference championships and getting into the fast heats. I have done my part during the regular seasons. However, when it comes to championships, I do nothing but fold. I have been in position to score 17 points in the last two years, and I came away with 1 point in indoor, and that was only due to luck. I went into my conference champion...

Teusday was workout day, and what do you do when you are getting ready for a workout? Well first you do some stretches, and after you are done with those stretches you go out for a little warm up jog! We go out for about 2.7 miles for our warmup. Those usually take us close to 20 minutes. We have a usual loop we run for these warm ups. This week is the Conference championship weeks, and only a select few of the distance guys made it to conferences. So I was forced to run with two teamates that treat the warm up like a fast recovery run. I think...

I started my day waking up at 605. We were to meet in the Golden Bear Room for breakfast at 615. I got two bagels in my system and took two granola bars for the ride to Shippensburg. We left around 645 on about a two hour ride. I did not realize Shippensburg was surrounded by farms just like Kutztown. I had not been at Shippensburg since States my senior year. It has only been less than two years, but now that I am a sophomore in college it feels like forever ago. I ran the mile and two mile at states my senior year! Finally got that state meda...

First Double of Outdoor Track

My season has been full of excitement. All of the meets I have been to the last few months were beautiful. My first meet was in Myrtle beach, South Carolina. This meet was hosted by Coastal Carolina. Following that my team traveled to Virgina. The reason we went so far south was because it would be a lot warmer than Pennsylvania and it would be right around spring break. Well, it almost was not hotter in South Carolina and Virginia than Pennsylvania. All three states were around the nineties for three weeks. My season was filled with meets of o...

Bucknell- Bison Open Outdoor Classic

I want to start off by saying I was a little skeptical about this meet and whether I should run it. Two weeks before hand I ran the 3k steeplechase in 9 minutes and 44 seconds and in the third lap of that race on the water jump I rolled my ankle. As you already know, I finished the race, however, my ankle could not handle even a minute cool down. From that meet till the Bucknell meet I taped my right ankle every day for my workouts and runs. Coach told me I would be running the Steeplechase again at Bucknell, and as you can imagine I was pretty...

No offense to cross country, but I love track alot more. I had a very strong cross country season. Top 30 at psacs and top 40 at regionals. Finally broke the 26 minute 8k. Didnt finish off as well as I wanted to at regionals in the 10k but still Pred the last 5 meets of the season. I'm excited for indoor track. Kutztown University is looking to go to nationals in the DMR and coach is putting a lot of pressure on me to become that miler. I'm ready for the challenge though. The mile is by far my favorite race and if I keep improving the way I hav...

Running in the rain!

Running in the rain!

I love running in the rain. I love the way the rain cools you off and falls on your face and drips down your legs! I just ran 16 miles in the rain at 6 07 pace per mile and it was my best long run of the XC and indoor track season. Sure, I love running no matter the weather, but when it rains it is the most enjoyable for me! You can have so much fun running in the rain! You can jump in puddles or count how many rivers you see on the road. If you are lucky enough you might run alongside a river and you can see how much it has rained based on how...
