Okay. I have a new update to report. I have been eating less meat lately. I am going to keep track of how I feel and see if there are any negative effects. Arturo taught me how to skate on my feet and keep my head relaxed and still. I started doing that tonight on my long run. I also still roll off of my feet. That's all for now. Cya.
Running longer is better. We are endurance athletes. We do not always need to run hard and fast. The longer the better. Also taking easy weeks is essential to training because you must back down. This is how you get fast. This allows you to do more mileage and train better. Also I need to start doing longer runs. I need more than just the regular training. I need fartleks and tempo runs. I need to start hitting the gym. Getting to bed at a reasonable hour and getting up earlier in the morning to go run is also important. This way there is more...
So I have stepped up my training again. I hope to do well at State this year in track. Training with T a lot lately. I think it is good for him. Anyways, I heard about this workout that Coach Ross does in the pool so i have doing that lately as an extra form of exercise. Quite the doosy. I do pushups and situps now before and after every run. Plus an extra set ;) For my mileage this pre season and beyond I am thinking 100 miles at the max, but who knows, I may go 110 miles. We will have to wait and see :P I realized that what Coach Hunt said wa...
Yeah, so a couple of weeks ago I decided I wanted my christmas present early so I ordered a Garmin pace/distance running watch. !!! Pretty cool. I must say I am amazed. It is kind of neat to glance down at your watch while you are running and look at your current pace and how far you have gone. Anyways.. Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back Struck from a great height By someone who should know better than that The dog days are over The dog days are gone Can you hear the horses 'Cause here they come!! Embarrasment? Who, me? Never. Maybe.....
Running these past few years with Coach and the Mesa Cross Country Team, I have learned a few things. 1. Take your easy runs easy. 2. Watch out for injury. 3. Prevent injuries 4. Don't drink milk before a run. 5. Doubles get your back. Do them. 6. High mileage training is unbelievable. 7. It doesn't hurt to do lunges, pushups, situps, etc. Just don't overdo it. 8. Make sure to eat around your runs, sleep 7-8 hours, hydrate. 9. Go to class. 10. Don't be a wuss. Get up and run! 11. Don't drive like an idiot. Death is possible. 12. Pump your arms...
Okay so i officially trust grandmaster Thom now completely. Why? Because he speaks the truth! The training works! Also his life advice turns out to be mostly helpful and for the most part true. I'm still better looking though.. Right hip is feeling better w00t. Lets go. So the last two weeks I have been doing squats, lunges, calf raises, and reverse calf raises in addition to pushups and situps. Not a good idea. I trust Thom now. The training works. Hard to fully immerse yourself in a discipline with a half full cup. Cup = empty now, perha...
My mom bought me a pair of neutral, size 9 New Balance shoes today. I've been injured previously wearing a neutral shoe however that was because i ran too many hard runs consistently at a fast pace. Also the shoes had over 500 miles on them as well. On another note i changed my running form a couple of days ago. That's all to report for now, so long Mesa XC.
