Shout Out 7/7/09

I just started my run. I was running up willowbrook road in front of P.S. 54, my Staten Island people will know where that is. I was stopped by a group of teenagers again age ranging from 15-17. The leader of the pack said as I ran by 'excuse me sir, do you have a lighter I can borrow please?" as a cigarette hung from his mouth. Now one thing really stood out about this. One really important thing. He was an extremely polite young man. Not many staten island teenagers know the phrases "excuse me" and "sir". I was blown away by the politeness of this kid. But just as I was thinking that, I realized he was a retard also. Who the fuck asks a runner if they have a lighter? Like seriously do you have fucking Leukodystrophie or something? Your mom has to send you to special education after that brilliant thing you asked a runner. F*ck. Now third. THE KID IS F*CKING 12, HOW THE F*CK DID HE GET A PACK OF CIGS? IS THERE NO MORE TOBACCO LAWS IN NEW YORK? But I don't want to take away from the fact he was really polite.
