Morning run with Olympians

Well, not exactly but close. Sierra Striders practice this morning was 3-4x1mi on dirt trails with 2.5min rest. Have I mentioned that they start at the ungodly hour of 7:00am?!? I opted for 3 miles, then 4x400m for a little turnover work because I have a race coming up in 2 weeks. I was pretty happy with how it went. I followed Andrew pretty closely and cut my time on all three miles and felt pretty smooth and strong doing it. The 400s hurt me severely. It burns like fire! I jogged my cool down and went back to the cars and stood talking to people for a bit.

Deena was there in a walking cast. Then Ian Dobson, Julia Lucas, Kate O’Neil, and Amy Hastings showed up. The women (unfortunately, not Deena) were going to do a 10k simulation workout of 1000 hard, 600 moderate (x10 for Kate, x8 for Amy split into two sets). Ian was on his mountain bike, so he must still be taking it easy after his Olympics. After some discussion about “health” food, Ian headed off on his bike to Schat’s Bakery for some fuel, the women headed off for their workout, and I headed home.

It was a pretty cool morning for me. Good workout and a little fast runner inspiration.
