The trip to Osaka

So I am sitting here in Tokyo Haneda Airport all spaced out and blurry eyed, and I figure IÂ’ll write something on my blog to kill the timeÂ…
I am on my way to Osaka from Arkansas and let me tell you it has been a marathon of a journey, I think it is a 24hour door to door trip! This is probably not the best frame of mond to introduce myself into the world of Flocast but hey this travel thing is one of the biggest hurdles a professional track athlete will have to overcome. I find sleeping and drinking a lot of water are key but most importantly I try not to stress if you feel like I weigh 50 pounds more on the other side, because the chances are I will feel it. So my first task ahead is spending the next 3 or 4 days trying to get me body and mind back onto the same time zone.
Before I starting this trip this morning, or was it yesterday morningÂ…anyway, I had a good window of recoup and sharpening up. I went back to Fayetteville after my European races where I spent two weeks in the hottest and most humid weather I have had to train in, fortunately it was under the watchful eye of Coach Mac who took control and told me not to force it. Workouts had to be toned down to account for the weather but I feel it has been a blessing as most hamstring or other injuries come from trying to get that little extra in before a championship, and this time my body just couldnÂ’t do it in that heat. But besides the heat I felt great and got some amazing work in, showing that I am still improving from my 7:32/13:07 form I was in a month ago. It was great to be home, I got to see the girlfriend and my 2 dogs, recharge the batteries, and get geared up for my race on the 30th. Yes, all emphasis will be on the prelims as I know if I get into the final I have as good a shot as anyone, I just have to make sure I am there to play my part in it.
Need to start on the sleep thing now. I canÂ’t wait to get out and experience Osaka for a week or so before I actually get into race mode. So hopefully I will see some cool things and have some good stuff to write about.
Take care, AC
