Recovering
November 5, 2009
This week, after running the NY marathon, I'm just taking time off to recover and relax my over worked muscles. All I've been doing is stretch, and I've been eating a lot of veggies and fruits, I'm getting quite hungry since the marathon. I cant wait to get back in workout mode and find the next adventure! more »
Now I know what it feels like to run 26.2 miles
November 2, 2009
Wow I did it in 4 hours 34 minutes and I'm so proud! Running the NY Marathon was one of the toughest things I have ever done in my life, it was also an experience I will never forget, going through the five boroughs, seeing the crowds cheering was uplifting, and the Team For Kids support was outstanding. more »
It's almost race day 2 days to go
October 30, 2009
Wow a few months ago for the people running the NY marathon November 1st seemed to be so far away, but in a matter of a few days...in 2 days to be exact it's THE DAY! How do I feel about that? I definitely have mixed feelings such as excitement, wonder, and a little enxiety, but I'm trying to be relaxed and just do it!
I'm heading to NY tomorrow with one of my very good friends Mamontsi and I'm sure we will be such a great experience.
All the trainging is finally about to bear it's fruits :)

Thirteen days to go!
October 19, 2009
Slowly but surely "the day" is soon approaching. Today I went for my sort of short run/medium run, not too long of a distance. I ran 5.25 mi, I ran outside and it was a little chilly, but I enjoyed, I've cut my runs recently, I've been doing cross training and I just want to take it easy and be relaxed until race day. I'm still rasing funds and I hope to have made my pledge by the end of October.
Well I am so excited to run 42km, I will definitely feel very accomplished upon crossing the line. Running… more »
Good news!
October 15, 2009
I got the result of my shin x-ray, and it's good news I don't have any stress fructure...what a relief. The pain I was feeling after running long distance was due to overtraining most probably, and the tissues in my legs were hurting from the impact when running in hard surface.
Lately I'm just doing short runs, elecptical and cycling. more »
My longest run before the NY Marathon
October 11, 2009
While doing my training for the NY marathon yesterday 10/10/09 was the day I did my longest run, 21 miles which took me 2 hours and 45 minutes. I know I'm ready for the big day November 1st 2009. Despite the pain in my shin I was able to run yesterday with a slight uncomfortability and little pain, well I will be hearing from the Doctor this week, about the injury, I'm hoping it's nothing serious. In the coming three weeks I will be cutting down the mileage and doing some cross training, so I don't overstress my legs...
I'm looking… more »
The down side of training hard...Injuries
October 8, 2009
My training was going great until about 2 weeks ago, when I started getting really bad pain in my left leg, at first I thought it was shin splints gone bad, but the pain worsened when I ran, specially when my foot came in contact with the ground, but it does not hurt when I cycle or when I do the eliptical, so the past two weeks I have been off running and I hope the rest I'm taking is healing the injury and hopefully it's nothing major. I will be seeing a doctor today, and I'm hoping that I… more »
My first marathon training update
October 2, 2009
It has been almost two months since I last blogged, it's about time for a little update.
I am counting down the weeks...4 and a half to be exact until the NY Marathon.?I'm still excited and looking forward to the occasion.? Lately I?am reducing the mileage(as I was getting painful shin splints and I did take a few days off), I was averaging 43 miles a week, and now I'm doing about 18 to 25 miles a week, and on the second week of october I will go for my longest run before the marathon, and my aim is to… more »
Getting Ready
August 7, 2009
Running a marathon has been one of my goals yet to be realised. Living in Boston for the past 3 years, I've always wanted to do the Boston marathon, however I was not well prepared.
I have always been into sports I used to be in the athletics team in high school and I did a couple of sports: squash, tennis and soccer. Exercising and being in good shape is definitely something I enjoy and make the time for. Since last year I have been training to run a marathon and I made the committement to run the NY marathon on… more »
