Sweet Home Alabama

Reid Coolsaet | Profile
February 6, 2008

Well that was a short and sweet indoor season. I ran a 3:51 1500m and a 7:53 3000m(PB) and ran less than 10km on the indoor track for the whole month of January (including races). Now my focus will be on Mt. Sac and Stanford with a road race in March thrown in there so I don't forget what it's like to race.

Tim Konoval and I have been here in Auburn, AL for a week and a half and so far and the weather has been great, except for this morning's thunderstorm with tornado warnings. There is quite a bit of snow and ice back in Guelph so it's great to run on the dirt trails and roads. On Monday I did a hilly 15km tempo run in shorts and t-shirt... usually in February I'd have many more layers on.

We're meeting up with the Auburn University distance guys almost everyday here and they have been great hosts. They're showing us all the running routes and letting us use the facilities. They also took us to a traditional Southern BBQ restaurant in town, you don't get places like Mike and Ed's north of the Mason Dixon line.

I'm staying with my great Aunt Lorna, whom we call Nornee. It's been great to visit her and have a nice place to stay right in Auburn. She's taking us to a local performance of the Producers tonight. If you're wondering why I call her Nornee... well I'll let her explain...

Thanks for the blog.
Best of luck training and on the season. I think staying off the track early will help you extend your season.and
Best regards to your lovely aunt.
I'd love to see a whole training program written out by "Coach Nornee".
