tried to solo at 10 000m tonight. I split 13:53 for 5000m, right on pace. Then I threw in a bunch of 69’s and completely ruined all chances of A standard, 27:47. I got lapped by K. Bekele and then latched on to him for a couple laps, man it felt good. I’m confident if I had people to run with a 27:45 would of been possible. I had some of my best workouts ever in teh past month so I decided I had to make a run at A standard for 2008. Well, back to the drawing board and reload for next year. Oh yeah, I ended up in 11th with 28:14.

Hey Reid, this is Vic from your floor in Leuven earlier this summer. I just wanted to say that I've been there-- I tried to run a solo 10K in Helsinki last summer and I ended up cheering on everyone who was lapping me with about a k to go. I think it's that kind of race that makes us tougher and makes us want it more. One more thing-- if you're looking for a great place for winter training, you should seriously consider Tempe, AZ. Good luck and hope to see you again soon.

Hey you did the right thing,BK was slowing and you were able to get some pace help. You do look like in the right race a 27:40 is well within reach.
Great job.

Hey Reid, Pieters brother here. Saw you running live at the Memorial yesterday. Nice solo run. Maybe if Bekele were to catch you 1 lap later you would have been able to cling till the end, might have gained you a few secs (lot of "woulds" here, I know). I was a bit surprised, you were not on the starting list. But hey, it looked like you could use a little cheering, so :-). Must say my voice is still a bit gone, not easy to try and overpower those 5kWatt speakers

Reid, listened to the race on IAAF radio. Understand you wanted that A standard and I wish you all the best. But congrats on the exposure of being out there with Bekele.
