It was a long weekend, with much of it spent in the car traveling back and forth between Bloomington and the Ville (go cards). I am not complaining mind you.

After two straight days of indoor I can say with any doubt at all that wearing a Speed Suit does not make you fast. In fact it can make you look quite silly. Especially if you are a girl and your belly hangs out like your training diet is mostly composed of Bud Light. Not a good look for anyone.

Then there were the male sprinters and their zoot suits. Yesterday I spent a good deal of time admiring one young mans form as he warmed up. I probably remarked to some of you "Look out for this guy". I mean really, in that fantastic suit and that great drill fo Arm how can you not be fast? So to the line he goes. Taking all my hopes of watching a sub 50 400 with him. This guy cant be beat right? WRONG! Not only can he be beat, he can be 4th in a five man heat. Not even under 60, much less 50.. So much for the clothes making the man.

Then there was the 75 second 12 year old. Pretty good right? Except that was the first 400 of a 1600. And her Coach felt that wasnt fast enough and encouraged her to pick it up. Anchor soon dropped and the five minute pace soon turned into 8 minute pace. You guessed it. Speed Suit!!!
