This afternoon I left the office a little early and went to Bernheim. Its amazing that the leaves are already starting to change. If you have never run there take my advice and give it a try. Especially in the fall as the trees start to change. It has to be one of the prettiest places in our region. On a weekday afternoon there is hardly another sole in sight. The solitude of the run is beautiful in itself. Your footfalls and breathing can be all that you will hear for long periods of time. At one point I was running through a canopy of trees when a hawk soared within feet of my head as it made a dive for something on the forest floor. (I couldnt tell what it was chasing). At another point I saw a man walking towards me on the same rock trail that I was running. He was obviously engrossed in thought and never looked up as I approached. When I got within a few feet he was so startled that he sort of yelled in surprise (and flinched really bad too). His reaction made me sort of yell too. If anyone was watching I am sure they got a good laugh out of it.
