Well, I have decided to write a small blog post on how Beijing went for kibet and I in case anyone who voted for us in the Beijing Video Contest wanted to know. To be honest with you it was one of the most unforgettable experience of my life so far. Arriving home and having time to think over the two weeks I was there really hit me hard. After winning the contest everything seemed like a dream, I somehow in the back of my mind couldn't believe that I was actually going and for that reason didn't get too… more »

I will be down at the Bird's Nest tomorrow night, the nerves will grip me as I settle into position, eyes and arms at the ready. The race starts and I stand up in anticipation not as an athlete but as a spectator observing the action, in one of the world's greatest sporting events. In a long journey that involved time in Kenya mingling with some of the greatest distance athletes in history while creating a documentary that still hasn't come to fruition, who would have thought that 4 months later I would be watching some of those athletes at… more »

I wanted to write a short blog post before I make the bumpy 8 hour trip by uncomfortable bus from Nairobi back to my room in Iten so here goes.

The filming is going well. I have finished filming two of the characters, and have all… more »

flotrack blog readers,

I wanted to update everyone on my what my situation has been like in Kenya with the election violence and what I am doing these days.

I left my camp in Eldoret for Nairobi on December 23rd, before the violence started. I then remained cooped up in an apartment for much of January venturing out in the mornings to go for a 75 minute run. To say the least, my level of training had dropped considerably. I kept in contact with some of the athletes in Iten to be updated… more »

Hello Again

It’s been three something weeks since my last blog and I have been doing very well. So far I have filmed about 5 hours of footage (40 more to go) and found two of my three characters. For any of those techies out there, I am filming with a Canon HV20 in mostly 24p with a little 60i for slow-motion shots. I will add some pictures into this blog and also onto my personal gallery. These pictures are taken directly from movie footage so you can use your imagination. Sadly I can't upload any movie… more »

Hi Everyone,

My name is Francis Coral - Mellon and I am currently in the process of making a running documentary in Iten, Kenya, the Mecca of Kenyan distance running. I have decided to write a series of blogs during my time here to let people know what I am doing. I am making a film about what it takes to become a champion. I will be filming across three age ranges and characters. Starting with a young boy who has the dream to follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before, documenting his training… more »
