Track and Field Blogs - Chaz [Charlie Hammon]

Today I woke up at 5:45 and had some food. Then I got my running stuff on and drove to the start of the mini/marathon. We looked for the second leg handoff but we couldn't find it at first. So we walked around and saw Connor filming the start. We eventually found the handoff zone, it was right next to our car. I stood there for awhile. Then the guy called out Zack's number so I got ready to go. Zack handed the braclet off to me and are started running the 5k. I got to run through Churchill Downs and through the tunnels which I thought was really cool. I eventually saw Connor's mom so I decided to start my kick, which was probably a little late because I wasn't tired enough when I handed the braclet to Connor. I got 19:30 something which I feel really good about for being my first 5k or any race over 4k. I got in Zack's car and we drove to the third handoff place where Max was. We saw Dave there too. Our overall time was 2:51 and some seconds I think. We ran the last three quarters with Corbin (Zack's cousin). I think we got 2nd overall in the relay, but not sure in the entire race. Later I have to go to some party which will hopefully be fun. I am really tired from waking up at 5:45 so I am going to go take a nap.
