The Legends

This weekend was by far the best of weekends for the guys and girls teams. Our guys tied Perry High School for 1st place and then lost by a mere 3 places or 6 seconds on a tie breaker with our 6th man. It just goes to show you how each and every place can count. The team was led by Tyler Tomazic, but it took awesome performances by Landon Davis and Greg Gannon to tie Perry. It was the true epitome of teamwork by the guys as they also reduced their separation 1 to 5 to just over 1… more »

Midwest Meet of Champions

Sometimes in cross country you need to race beyond your teams' abilities so that each and every athlete can realize that there is always something to learn when you race. Races like yesterday will only make each and every runner better. No one should be ashamed at the place that you may have finished but rather cherish the moment where many of you set PR's. In the guys race they faced some of the best competition not only in the state but possible the country. If you were to ask me before the race that if the guys had an… more »

We arrived in Dayton on Friday afternoon after a great trip down in our charter bus. The team was focused on having fun but you could still see the excitement in the eyes in the race the next day. After a rest in a hotel we were off to Indian Riffle Park to run the course. I had heard that the course was changed due to the damage from the remnants of Hurricane Ike. The course was littered with fallen trees, branches, and a power line. The race director told me that the race almost was cancelled but because of… more »

Boardman Spartan Invitational

What a beautiful day today. Sunshine, no wind, and perfect temperatures. Wait that was last week. The weather was horrible. I elected to just tough it out with my hat, a pair of shorts, and the new driFit coaches shirt. Days like this are great preparation for the districts, Regionals, and the state meet. Times meant nothing today and only hard work, determination, and lots and lots of GUTS!!! Both teams took on the challenge and had very successful meets. The guys team took 6th, but could have easily been 4th. Tyler Tomazic led the way but close behind was… more »

Tiffin Carnival

What an atmosphere at the 2008 Tiffin Carnival yesterday. The tents, the people, the coaches, and of course the runners. The experience of running in this race is a great preparation for what it will be like at the state meet, but with a lot more runners. In the girls varsity race there was 270 runners from 40 teams. In the guys varsity race there was 352 runners from 50 teams. In the girls varsity race the Irish ladies brought that pack to the front and finished in 3rd place. The top 5 runners were only separated by 30 seconds.… more »

Chet Sullwold Invitational, Toledo

August 31, 2008

A long drive to Toledo brought us to the Ottawa Park Golf course for the 3rd annual Chet Sullwold Invitational. We placed our tent down on the 1st fairway at the starting line only to move because of the massive hornets. Then we were told by the ranger at the golf course to move because their were golfers still on the course. Obviously they did not get the message that runner's need to warm up before they race. Go figure!! The girls race pitted the Irish ladies against a formidable opponent in Toledo Notre Dame Academy, a divison I team.… more »

Yesterday's 3K run proved to be a great day for the Irish XC teams. There were excellent individual and team showings on both the boys and girls teams. On the boys side Tyler Tomazic lead the way followed closely by Jacob Swords, Landon, Davis, Ian Walsh, Anthony Joyce, Greg Gannon, and Brian Raglow. On the girls side we had a very pleasant surprise in Tessa Weigand taking 2nd overall. Molly Miloscia drove the pace for the first half of the race and then Tessa took over. It took a little coaxing at the end by Coach Miloscia to have Tessa… more »

Ledges Run/Breakfast

What a glorious day for our Irish XC teams. The team met up at the Ledges parking lot at the Virginia Kendall area of the CVNP. After a brief warm up and instructions to the team about not getting killed or worst, get lost, the team was off for their 70 minute run. The team returned promptly and was then treated to a breakfast of Pancakes, meat, eggs, etc. The bellies were all filled up and only a lone 6 pancakes remained. Long runs like this put the tiger in the cat, a phrase used by a Kenyan runner. It… more »

The coaches are proud of the performances in today's 5K. On the guys side the Irish were well represented by Tyler Tomazic, Ian Walsh, Landon Davis, and Jacob Swords. On the girls side Emily Tomei led the way for the Irish girls followed closely by a herd of girls(Courtney Kovach, Maria Arnone, Sarina Caponi, and Anna Mion). XC Camp at Salt Fork

What a great weekend we all had. Lots of food, fun, and of course running. The guys were very entertaining with their paintball and card tournament. Hopefully Brian Raglow's nose is OK after Joyce hit him with the Hulk Hogan upper cut. Anthony Joyce provided some entertainment last night with him running in circles and getting lost in the woods for an hour and a half. The smell of the pasta dinner lured him back to home base at the lodge. He more than made up for those burned calories with a mountainous plate(s) of food. The girls were true to… more »

Quail Hollow Park Pancake Run

Chris Miloscia | Profile
July 12, 2008

What a great morning for those Irish XCers that decided to take part in the 1st annual Pancake Run at Quail Hollow Park in Hartville. The group assembled at 9 am at the park which is nearby Colleen Conrad, Sarina Caponi, and Sam Stacks homes. The sun was a blazin' and the bugs were a buzzn' but the group survived the 60 minute run for they new that chocolate chip pancakes were in their near future. After the run we all got into our vehicles and traveled to the Caponi's where we were treated to pancakes, juice, gatorade, and chocolate… more »

We had a great day yesterday to run. The 11 runners who showed up(4 girls and 7 boys) were treated to an beautiful lake with a 1.8 mile trail around it. There were plenty of neighborhoods to explore. After the run I treated the team to Panera Bagels(Cinnamon Crunch are the best), gatorade, water, and chocolate milk. We continue this Saturday morning run tradition in 2 weeks down at Quail Hollow in Hartville(Sarina's neck of the woods). Future Saturday runs will be at Buckeye Woods in Medina County and off of Quick Road at the sleding hill in the Cuyahoga… more »
