A long drive to Toledo brought us to the Ottawa Park Golf course for the 3rd annual Chet Sullwold Invitational. We placed our tent down on the 1st fairway at the starting line only to move because of the massive hornets. Then we were told by the ranger at the golf course to move because their were golfers still on the course. Obviously they did not get the message that runner's need to warm up before they race. Go figure!!

The girls race pitted the Irish ladies against a formidable opponent in Toledo Notre Dame Academy, a divison I team. The girls fought hard and finished in 2nd place. They were led by Emily Tomei who finished 2nd overall. Courtney Kovach was sandwiched between our two freshmen, Annie Davis and Tessa Weigand. Great job girls. Our 5,6,7 girls(Maria, Molly, and Anna) were a little bit back but it would not have changed the placing.

On the boys side the team was led today by Jacob Swords. Tyler Tomazic, Landon Davis, Ian Walsh, and Anthony Joyce were close behind allowing the boys to finish in 3rd place behind perennial Division I powerhouse Toledo St. Johns Jesuit. Overall a very good performance.

After the race and of course to pick up our hardware we were off the Jo Jo's Original Pizza shop. Inhaling the pizza is an understatement. After the bellies were filled up we loaded up and headed homeward. A brief stop at a rest stop did happen when an ice cream craving occurred.

Overall a very good day for both teams and this week will be about preparing for the Tiffin Carnival XC race. The best of the state in Div. II will be there and we'll need to bring our "A" game(legs) to place at the top.
