Sometimes in cross country you need to race beyond your teams' abilities so that each and every athlete can realize that there is always something to learn when you race. Races like yesterday will only make each and every runner better. No one should be ashamed at the place that you may have finished but rather cherish the moment where many of you set PR's.

In the guys race they faced some of the best competition not only in the state but possible the country. If you were to ask me before the race that if the guys had an average time below 17:00 a person 1 to 5, I would of said that we would have finished middle of the pack in the race, and not 13th. But when you are competing against schools like Centerville which have 3000 students(we have 700) and a 120 boys running cross country it puts things in perspective. The boys performed great today and this race will absolutely make you better.

In the girls race it was the same story. 46 girls out of 98 runners broke 20 minutes. That is amazing. We now have 3 girls of our own that have broken that magical barrier with Emily Tomei, Anna Mion, and Annie Davis. The 4 other varsity girls also have been so close and the best is yet to come as our workouts change to make our girls faster. The difference between finishing 5th or finishing 8th as we did today is a mere few seconds a person.

I think all the athletes, parents, and coaches will look back on this new trip as a keeper. The whole experience was wonderful.

The teams now will set our sights on preparing for the state tournament. GO IRISH!!!!
