hello to anyone who is reading this. first blog of the year, and ill try to keep people updated with things goin on with me, on the track and off... but on the track is the main thing;)

my last race was in uden, the netherlands... hmm around aug 4th or 5th. i took a few weeks off and got back to training. thankfully this year i didn't have any main injuries when the season ended. just the basic aching on the body and feet of most seasoned runners.
last season as you all saw wasn't great, mediocre finish, but i finished better than what i started, which is positive. i had some issues i was dealin with and it affected my running apparently. whats done is done and my emotions and head is where it needs to be. ... new season! thankfully i have a supportive family and people around me... including my agent (flynn sports management) and sponsor (reebok).
anyhow,,,
training is goin well. getting the milage going, drills, plyos, weightroom. getting certain things stronger on my body that are pretty weak and where i was compensating. i do need to work on relaxin my shoulders. cant tell all the secrets of what im doing tho. but i will definitely be stronger and have a better lactic acid threshold. don't be surprised to see me in a 1500 this year. i actually used to love that race when i was 16. i kept getting faster so i became a 4/8 guy. i truly miss the 400 and 4x4 tho. any 800 man will tell you he loves suckin up 400 runners in the 4x4.
besides my training.. i am a volunteer/assistant xc/track coach here at Tennessee. yes i will be a coach at a university when i'm done competing. hint-hint. George Watts of UT is my coach and i assist him here. i travel with the XC guys and try to be the support for them so they can succeed also. i believe Watts trusts me,,,a lot. i am the 2nd in command. alongside the coaching i've become a substitute teacher in knoxville. it's my second week, and it's interesting. i've had a 1st grade class (not for me) some in-school suspension detail and some 7th grade-science classes (cool). and i guess lastly, i do freelance work. i'm an artist/designer. majored in graphic design, but im more of a studio artist at heart. ill put a few pics up soon. one of ray charles and one of coach watts.
the XC guys are headed to pre-nats this weekend, so ill be up there gettin them ready. :) take care -J

Additionally, I am an avid art fan. At one time in my life, I owned an art business and art gallery. In fact, I was the agent for two artist and publish 2 limited edition prints of 500 each. Thats pretty cool that you have time to train while teaching and coaching, something i hope to be doing as well once i am out of the college game. I am looking forward to seeing your artistic skills.

hope the training goes well and good luck this upcoming season... maybe those XC guys can convince you to do a race sometime.... or not
