First Two Weeks

So Im coming to the end of the first two weeks of training, I was at about 36 last week and Ill probably be around 65 this week. One of the things that I think will be beneficial about the way training is going right now is that Im starting later than when I did last year. The reason I think this might be better is because I feel like last year I kind of burnt myself out going too hard in the summer and doing workouts too early. I remember last year doing some type of workout in the second week of getting back into things. Next week Im thinking of going up to about 80-85 and it will be the first week in Vermont with Ryan, Steve, Jared and Joe. This will be good because another thing about last summer was that I was running on my own everyday so I had no one to keep me in check.

Im starting to get really pumped up for this season, especially after watching Ryan place 13th in the 5k at NCAAs and Andrew placing 5th in the 10k. There was no doubt in my mind that either them were capable of doing as well as they did, and I think it shows a lot about the program we have here. This year we'll have a lot of younger guys taking over leadship roles on the team, but I still think we can have a strong team and make another run at being on the podium.

On another note, one thing Im trying this summer is to do plyometrics twice or three times a week. I did this last year, but I want to try and do it in cycles based on where I am when Im training. For example, more strength based plyos when Im in the base training phase, then get into more explosive plyos towards the end of the season.
