Hello from Iowa

This is my very first post so I will be in charge of introductions. Flotrack - Jacob......Jacob - Flotrack. Alright, we got that. I should begin with a brief summary of my life: I was born and raised in Peoria, IL, rocked a small town High School called Farminton (the Farmers)... pause for snicker..... went to college at the University of Northern Iowa, married my lady, and now I pole vault for Nike.
I am super jazzed about the upcoming season because last year was mostly successful and this fall's training has been a extension of that. I have just returned from Reno, NV where the National Pole Vault Summit was held. The funny and sometimes painful truth about pole vaulting is that the result only sometimes reflects the actual success of a competition. El no heighto' I beleive is the word they use in Mexico. But, I feel very hopeful about the technical progress I have made in the last month or so. Now I have two weeks to get organized and head out for the indoor season. Of course, I don't know if I am confirmed in Boston, Tyson (if there is a Tyson), Milrose, and the others. Could you imagine playing for the Lakers and not know where you will be playing next week. Track and Field makes me laugh sometimes. Ok, I don't want to be cynical, next paragraph.
Anyway, I am new at this and to be honest feel a little intimidated by the fact that I am completely outnumbered by distance runners. I love you guys. And girls. So if you skip across my blog invite me to be your friend because I am lonely. Not in life... just here. Ok, Peace.

oh yeah. the picture at the bottom is my wife Nikki.
