Killing Time In Europe

My first official blog post, live from Berlin!

I gotta apologize to my boy Mark for taking so long to get this first post up. He's had me ready to go on here since Osaka, and due to a bit of procrastinating on my part, and some sketchy internet spots in Italy it's taken me almost a month to get my first post up.

The season is slowly winding to an end. Some athlete are shutting down for the season, others are planning out there vacations, and looking forward to some downtime. Me...well, I would probably be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to October, but I also feel like I am still got some life in the ol' legs and looking to finish off the season strong.

Rieti wasn't so hot for me, 3:37.39, for 7th place. Since just missing the semi-final in Osaka I had had some outstanding sessions, and really felt like the magic carpet of Rieti was going to be the last piece of the puzzle. But as sometimes happens, the legs don't always do what you mind is telling them, and so was the case. So you just put it behind you and get on to the next race!

That race was supposed to be a 3000m in Rovereto. There was only one problem with that plan though. The 3000m race had an extra 2000m tacked onto the end of it! Yep, that's right. Due to some miscommunication I didn't find out until the night before the meet that the race was in fact a 5000m. After some consultation with my coach and manager, we decided it would be best just to do a session the morning of the race instead of risking not recovering in time for my 1500m here in Berlin.

I ended up having a very encouraging session on Wed morning, then traveled out with Chris Lukezic to Berlin on Friday morning. Fall is most definitely approaching fast. It's been a while since I have had to do a run in tights, but for both yesterday and today's runs we were very "bundled" up. This is my first time running the ISTAF Golden League, and it's always exciting checking out a stadium you have never been too. So was the case today. Berlin's Olympic Stadium a beautiful stadium. It is massive, and tomorrow should be a great atmosphere with 70000+ spectators in the stands.

Ok, enough blabbering for one day. Keep checking in over the next year as I chronicle my buildup to Beijing. If there is anything you guys want to hear about, let me know...I'll do my best to oblige.

All the best
KS
