Already Sick?

Beijing: So the journey to my first Olympics started at LAX at 12PM Pac on Wed, which I think is yesterday for you guys but two days ago for us. Anyway the flights were pretty uneventful.

I flew from LAX to Tokyo to Beijing. I was a little scared I might get denied in Beijing bc my passport is a little weathered but it was pretty ez. My brother Martin and Garrett who run wrestling and swimming sites respectfully arrived on a different flight so I had to run around trying to find them at the airport, bc our phones were not working, eventhough I called TMobile to set them up in China. We finally got to the Hotel around 11:30 PM but we were not tired bc of the time difference and the excitment of being in China, which only a few years ago was almost impossible to get into.

The city is so big that not even the Taxi drivers have any idea of where the hotels or streets are. You see the contrasting building of the communist China and the old/new China. The communists building are all grey and square with all the windows equal distance apart but the old buildings have the cool old temple feel to them. We have not really seen the New China yet but we are heading by subway to the Birds nest and the Aqua cube in a couple of hours and I will def have a video of that and some of the open cerimonies from the street.

I am only abouyt 12 hrs into our jounrey and I am already feeling a little sick. You are told not to drink the water or eat the street food and I thought I was careful but I may have drinken some water in the shoewer....Ahhhhh! I am pretty sure I will be puking in...... Oh I dont know T minus 4 hrs..... I will keep you guys updated. Anyway I am uploading the fist video blog of my jopurney and I will be hoping to get more interviews and off the beaten path content as we go along. As always let me know what you want me to try and get and I will do my best.

Later,

Mark

That is the best blog entry I've read so far on China. He actually sets the tone, speaks of his environment and makes one feel they are there with him. And he is not afraid to speak the truth, and mention (oh my) Communism. Thanks Mark. Keep it up. No PC here.

Lower Abi T-shirt prices? maybe? please?

I'm going to meet Will Leer and James Carney tomorrow in Mashpee, MA! They are staying at my friends house because he is a host family! (maybe that will get me a nice discount?! :-) )

Hey Mark, couple things that would be great. Another tour of the village kind of like the Nick Willis tour you did last year. Then as always any post race interviews you can get like last year really helps to bring out the intensity of the prelims and qualifying rounds.

Dude that really sucks being sick while travelling. I always feel queasy after a plane ride, but not full on sick. It must be the speed at which you're travelling. You run so much and you ride a plane or car and it just feels so fast you're legs can't comprehend.
