A lil Bet at the Meet in Zurich

Mark From Flotrack | Profile
August 28, 2009

I am at the Zurich Meeting right now, but I am not allowed to post any videos from the meet. I will try and get some interviews after at the meet hotel. We will see how that goes. The Zurich Meeting is the biggest of the European circuit. The Stadium is packed and has been sold out for months. Every race is basically the final from World Champs,, just a week ago, but there are some interesting twists, like A. Felix running the 400 against Sanya Richards and a USA vs Jamaica 4x100. THe best part of the meet is that every race has odds and you can bet inside the stadium. Check out he odds here www.sporttip.ch. Betting and beer could make a huge difference in our sport and I hope more meets will start doing this and maybe some day we can see something like this in the US.

in terms of rapport with athletes, quality of interviews, thoroughness of coverage, and understanding of the sport, no medium covers running around the globe as well as flotrack. when will meet directors and networks learn that if you cant beat them, hire them

Two non Africans ahead of Ritz's great run. Dieter Baumann and Buster Mottram. But I'll bet neiter run was more exciting than Ritz's performance today.

so he said a 3 seconds instead of 2. big deal. go back to letsrun if you want to be so negative.

i think dathan's run was INCREDIBLE!!! he was barely hanging onto the back of the pack for the first 2km. what a machine...

know your track and field stats. In 1996, Kennedy ran the 5000 meters in 12:58.21, making him the first ever non-African to run the distance in less than thirteen minutes. Ritz shaved a little less than 2 seconds off that time :)

yeah kd was rabbit

Brigitte Foster-Hylton shows why she was world champ running the worlds fastest time, 12.46. Dawn harper finishes a close second tying her PB of 12.48. perdita felician of canada finishes 3rd after cramping in the world champ final last week.

lolo jones who had run the world's fastest time earlier this season injuries her hamstring which is unfortunate after she battled back from injuries early on this season.

yelena isinbayeva breaks her own WR vaulting 5.06. she bounces back after no heighting at the world champs, congrats to her!

bekele and the 5k is underway. ritz in the field as well and off the back. bekele saying he wants to run around 12:45

my old college teammate dwight thomas of jamaica won the hurdles with a huge PB!! 13.17 (old PB was about 13.30). tremmell was second.

thomas was primarily a 100/200 guy growing up, in college, and his first years as a pro. he was runner up at NCAAs in the 100 and 200 behind justin gatlin and went to the olympics for jamaica in the 100 and 4x100 in 2004. he was all-american at NCAA indoors in the 60 hurdles and has picked the event back up this year. congrats dwight!
