video games
March 31, 2008
When I was in college, I was addicted to the N64. When I go back to MN, I still get together with friends and play PS2. I told some folks I work with that I don't play video games anymore because I would get too sucked in and would waste too much time and not get stuff done that I should be getting done. Even my wife has been playing video games lately. She nannys for a couple families here, and two of them have Guitar Hero, one of them has Rock Band and a wii. She came home two weeks ago with a sore shoulder from bowling for hours on the wii, and she says we should get a wii or Guitar Hero or Rock Band and she thinks it'll help us spend more time together. My immediate question of course was "what's wrong with the amount of time we spend together now?" What I really SHOULD have said was "that wouldn't really be the kind of quality time I want with you, I'd rather have more quality time with you."
So the weekend podcasts of the Wall Street Journal has a listing of the hottest web videos. This last one had to do with pets playing video games. I thought it was some kind of thing where the dogs and cats were chasing birds on the video games or something. But nope, watched the video, and it's really appears to be a dog and a cat playing tennis on the wii (I can't believe that they're actually playing.) Just so you don't have to go searching for it, I'm going to try to "embed" it (not sure if this'll work or not, I've never tried it before.)
If it didn't work, you can see it on youtube or google videos. I found it by typing "dog cat wii" and it was the first video up.
Maybe I'll break down and get Rock Band or Guitar Hero, but highly doubtful I'll buy a wii. To spend hundreds of dollars on a video game system only to have something bigger and better come out and make it look outdated in less than 2 years anyways seems kind of pointless, and I could turn this into a rant about how the Federal Reserve Bank has failed in ALL of it's goals (the dollar today is worth 4 cents relative to when the fed got it's charter in 1913, and one of their goals is to promote stable prices!) but I'll stop there as far as that rant goes.
Just something I found that amused me. If you get to see the video, I hope it amuses you too!
