Pre-training Camp

I made it into Osaka yesterday afternoon. It was a long flight but overall travel was easy. It is so hot and humid here. You walk outside a are just instantly soaked. I did a run last night around dusk and it was terrible. The best way I can describe it is it is like the worst day you could get in the midwest. I plan to do my last hard workout tommorrow night so I will see how tough the conditions really are then. I got an ice vest from Nike to use, but it weighs like 10 pounds so I will use it tommorrow to see if it is worth it. I tried it in a workout before I left Eugene but it made me tired. I also hae been battling a blister on my foot that gets opened up anytime I run in spikes on a hot track, so I have some shoes that the guys made for me that are the streak XC racing flat with a Jasari spikeplate one the bottom of it. They feel great and I'll give them a final runthrough in tommorrows workout. They seem to be the perfect 10k shoes. I am suppose to have Abdi as a roommate but he hasn't got here yet. We are kinda far from downtown so there is not a lot to do but once we move to the village hotel I will try to get out and see some stuff. I'll try to post something again before the race.

I used to get blisters from my socks sliding around inside my spikes, so I just started going sockless in my spikes and haven't gotten any blisters.

Ritz, best of luck . Try a little vasilene, were you get the blisters to cut down on the friction. I thought the ice vest was just for bringing down your core temp before workouts or races?? Keep the demons in the orb till race day.

Good job at Worlds Dathan. Even though it wasn't your best race ever, I still thought you competed well. You could have easily bagged the race and dropped out when the leaders took it out so hard. I admire your determination, and I look forward to seeing more great things from you in the future.

Ask the athletic trainers for second skin, it looks blue, but its the plastic covering the solid clear gel patch. This stuff is great!!! I once had a blister that kept re-opening that it was the point of raw, blood, etc, shower hurts, this stuff saved me. Good luck, and hope the best for you.

So i was walking down the street and the Japanese police department was looking for a man with an unfinished olympic tatoo.
Just wondering if you knew where he was?

I'm sure you'll adjust. Good news is you all have to run in that weather. Good luck Dathan.
