I´m Coming Home

Ryan From Flotrack | Profile
August 25, 2009

I am sitting here at a Hostel in Oslo and about to catch a bus to the airport. Its funny to think Im back where it all started 56 days ago. The longest trip Ive ever had, the longest time away from the good ole US of A. Its been a long exciting road over the past 8 weeks and Ive gotten to see so much. A few days back I was "hitting the wall" and spoke with Mark about it because hes gone through it before, but after rallying and finishing off a great week at the World Championships I am sad to see my stay has ended. There is more season left and I apologize that we will not be there to finish off what weve started. Mark will be at Zurich this weekend to cover our last Golden League meet and last track meet of the year!! Dont stop following our athletes, theyve worked had and World Champs is a big deal, but as we said to many of them, its not the end all be all. Well keep you updated as best we can over the next month (track ends with the 5th ave mile on Sept 26).

I will write more when I get back to the states, but for now, off to the airport with the hopes of not missing any flights this year. Thanks for all your support during the trip.....Im coming home!

One uniform (USA), so many different talents, characters, and faces, didnt realize there are so many cool athletes in Track and Field....... In years pass we have missed out in finding out who these great athletes are and what makes them tick.....why? because because of poor TV coverage....but now we have FLOTRACK!...

Hi Ryan

This is Emily, the media volunteer from Birmingham, UK you met in Berlin.
I've been watching the videos you and Mark did in Berlin and they are much more interesting than any of the press conferences I sneaked in to. Keep up the good work.

EXCELLENT job!!! The track coverage was INCREDIBLE!
NOW, back to CC!!!!!!!!!!
I am looking forward to workout Wednesdays..like to see more of those runs with Oklahoma State...things like that..
and the one day a week with a coach..I can't recall the name of that series..
I still think the best video you guys did was the 2007? Dellinger Invite with that bluegrass music in the background..that was memorable..a first.

Amazing job in Flotrack's coverage. It felt like being pulled through a portal of elite track and field life. It takes great sacrifice to deliver something original and genuine, as you all did. Our future stars now have pictures and sounds to go along with their Olympic dreams. Inspiration is need for hardwork. Hardwork is what will get us closer to the rest of the world in all areas of track and field. Keep rockin'.

What If....?   August 25 at 9:29am
So 56 days ago you had no idea what kind of "hitting the wall" was ahead of you. By golly, you truly earned a great "hitting the wall" .... Only you, and I'm sure Mark will graciously attest to that, yes, only you were the one to hang tight to each of those 56 days and make them memorable....not just memorable for yourself, but memorable for all of us back home. ALSO memorable for the athletes who may have been in such an adrenaline spike that it will take awhile before they get true perspective on all that has transpired and they will go back to your coverage and interviews to refine their strategy for future events. So, Ryan, it is good to know that "hitting the wall" does not dilute your world class coverage. Thank you.

Ryan
You made it all more interesting and great to follow.
Well done you did a great job and should get a contract with a major TV station for your hard work and effort in Europe.
Keep motivated and committed to athletics man- this sport needs you!
