Hello FloWorld, and thanks to Mark for asking me to Blog.
I want to tell everyone a little about the training group we have here at Indiana University. A lot has changed here in the past year but things are really going well. Coach Chapman is still coaching me and 7 other guys training here in Bloomington. Our group is called Team Indiana Elite and you can take a look at our website at www.teamindianaelite.com.
Last year was a pretty short year for me. I took 16 weeks off with a torn plantar at the beginning of my training, but I still considered last season a good year because I was able to PR in the 5k and get some experience with road racing.
So far this year the focus has just been training and increasing our miles. Everyone in the group has been running the most they have ever run. I have been very excited with the way training has been going. It has been so smooth and fitness has come back to me a lot easier then it has in the past. One of my favorite things to run is indoor track and this season I will do a few races after having to sit out indoors last year because of my plantar. This winter, I will be able to really get ready to race.
Every year when I was in college I ran the same workout before Christmas break, and I have continued doing it. In college, we would run K reps in the indoor football center on the last day of exams. This year, Coach Chapman had the T.I.E group do the same workout, making it 7 years in a row doing that workout. We did 12x1k, starting with 60 seconds rest and moving down to 45 seconds. It really feels weird thinking I have been here 7 years. Bloomington is a great place to train and I am very lucky to be able to stay here. I really thank Coach Chapman for all the work he has done setting up the group and getting the support he has been able to get.
I head to North Carolina tomorrow for 3 weeks to Christmas with the family and get in some warm weather training. I do look forward to coming back because we will have all 8 T.I.E guys in town again and we will be getting ready to race. I really can’t wait to try out these new New Balance spikes. A lot of exciting things coming up so keep coming to Flotrack.

Live the dream
HAAS
