downtime blizzards and 20k goals

It’s hard writing about running when you’re on downtime. I like to use downtime for non-running thoughts and activities. Recent thoughts; biodiesel fuel, geometry and getting another degree. Recent activities; eating Girl Scout Cookie Blizzards, training Ozzie to stop chewing electrical cords and installing new door handles and hinges on our interior doors. Nothing very exciting is going on at the moment. School starts in 2 weeks for private schools and 4 weeks for public schools. I’ll be tutoring again but until then things are quiet.

Over the next month I’ll be training for the 20k champs. It will be my third time racing in New Haven. My goal is to place higher than 8th, which is my highest place at a national champ. I hope this past segment of training will prove valuable because 4 weeks is going to fly by!! Training builds on itself so I’m confident that my goal is obtainable. It will also be good to see some old and new friends from the trials and past national champs.

Happy training!

Mmmmm, I love cookie dough blizzards! I treat myself to one after a long run on Sundays in the summer. I'll have to try the GSC one sometime.

You were looking smooth on Sunday at Stoney Creek Metropark. I think I heard your coach say 5:39 for a mile split. WOW! Have faith it will all come together at New Haven.

I agree. I love races they are like a reunion where you can meet up with runners from the past. Cool downs become a social gathering in and of themselves.
