Ahh... A sigh of relief. Finals for the first semester have just finished and now I can focus 100% on training. So far I have had about a month of steady mid-forty mile weeks with no injuries. Now it is time to start a solid 2 month campaign of base-training miles to gear up for track. I'll be upping the volume and the intensity here gradually and throwing in give or take 2 speed workouts a week. The speed workouts are going to be tough at first but I'm pretty fit so I should be able to handle it relatively smoothly. Unfortunately, the Kodiak weather has been less than ideal. With 20 mph winds 20 degree temps and slushy/snowy/icy streets the conditions are brutal and footing, treacherous. Okay enough with the bitching I'm going to have to start hitting the hallways and thats that. In addition to the running I plan to start attending Kingfisher Swim Club practice on a more regular basis as well as play on my city league basketball team, to get a good cross training bonus. If the training goes well, my hope is to capture the triple crown of ditance running. State titles in the 3200, 1600, and 800. its ambitious but I think I've got a pretty good shot. We'll see how it goes, it should be fun. :-)
