BIGtime Experience
The weekend in Boston was sensational! First off I have to give a BIG thanks to Art from Global and Patrick from Reebok for inviting me out there and making the trip unforgettable.
Here are some of the more interesting things I got to do:
1. Lakers-Celtics game. I know all the other high school milers are a little jealous that I went, but it’s time to get over it guys. I had to put up with your dumb Alaska jokes the whole weekend haha. This is definitely one of the most fierce and historic rivalries in sports, and I was grateful and lucky to witness it. I’m going to be bold and say now that the Lakers are and will always be better and cooler than the Celtics. I was jazzed to see the Lakers come out on top in an epic game. I wasn’t afraid to cheer, albeit somewhat quiet, around the intimidating Boston faithful either.
2. The Reebok headquarters! That place was awesome. Let me give a shout out to my fellow hookers, Emily and Shelby. As scandalous as it sounds the three of us were on a team in a contest to design a new Reebok shoe. We named the shoe after the great Australian pole-vaulter Steve Hooka! It was a “badass” design but unfortunately it came up just short of being the winning pair. We were spoiled rotten, and got to talk to all the Reebok athletes... which was tee-ight!
3. BIG. Boston Indoor Games was something else. Being able to warm up alongside all of these world class athletes was crazy, I won’t get too into the race but believe me a 4:13 solidified in my mind that I’m going to have a great season. The behind the scenes thing was sick. Adam Goucher, sorry but I was guilty of checking out your wife at the Games, more than once. I figured coming clean publicly was the best way to do this. Adam as a consolation after talking to you for around 3 minutes I realized you’re a really cool guy. Good luck to both the Gouchers!
4. Da streets. The streets of Boston are pretty crazy, and being from Kodiak it seemed especially foreign. Only Jeremy Rae and Zach Ornelas will know extent of the argument, but my ferocious argument with this old drunk ruffian was one for the ages. Speaking of J-Rae, I was truly humbled by this Canadien’s knowledge of the sport. In the unofficial contest of running stats he definitely drubbed me. Brett Johnson however did not!
Thanks for reading another edition of my blogs, until the next one, stay classy Running World.
