that time of year again... for some

i would guess that a significant portion of the flocasts subscribers are now headed back to school in the coming weeks, if they haven't already. not to get nostalgic, but i am going to miss classes. well, maybe not classes, but definately the schedule/ regimen it throws you into. it's so easy to go from practice to class or class to practice once you're into your semester rythym. before you knew it, it was december and you were in great shape and finished with finals. i loved it. oh well, i'm sure i'll do just fine without research papers, cases studies, and finals!

september is going to be a fun month. the beginning of REAL off-season training: lots of running, lots of technical drills, lots of 110 degree practices; plenty to be excited about. ACL, or Austin City Limits Music Festival is in a little more than two weeks. i'm psyched to see the white stripes and the killers for the first time. some friends of mine are coming in town every other week to visit austin from tomorrow on through mid-october so i'll have my hands full every weekend.

training is going great. i feel better than i have in over a year in the weightroom. my strength is way up, and my lingering groin tightness seems to FINALLY BE GONE!! one thing that i think has helped- more than any trainer or any massage therapist has thus far- has been the return of donovan kilmartin to austin. he's spent the past two summers at internships across the country so i rarely see him over june, july, and august. just seeing him back and working hard put me in a frame of mind i haven't felt since 2006. he redshirted outdoors and i pretty much resigned to training by myself for most of 2007. you can never underestimate the power of a good training partner. they push you psychologically and physically. plus, it's definately a lot easier running repeat 300's and 600's with someone at your side, or 30m in front of you!! ha! i think a good training partner is something that shouldn't be taken for granted...

3pm weigh-in: 207 lbs.
