Summer Summary

well, my last season at Texas was a long one. even though i only competed indoors, every week seemed like an eternity. indoors couldn't get over fast enough and my wrist couldn't heal any quicker.

all that's over now.

i've settle in to a new place a few blocks from the track, and i'm on my own. starting fresh. i've been in the weight room 3 times a week and going for 30 minute runs twice a week. this pales in comparison to what many of you are doing, but for me, it's a huge step forward. it's my job now. in years' passed i would start going for little 15 minute jogs in late august. but this year's is waaaay to important to give myself any excuses. i do not want to look back and say "icould have put a little more money in the bank".

i will never get the chance to run with TEXAS spread across my chest. that will be something i'll have to get used to. but in the years to come, i'll be representing myself and my country... oh, and nike!

it's kinda intimidating thinking about all the things that UT does for you during the track season knowing that i'm going to have to take care of all of it personally now. i'm really excited about it, don't get me wrong... but it's a whole new/ different experience and it's a little frightening without someone to hold you hand through every step.

this year is all about living the dream, as they say. it's like i woke up one day and my collegiate career was over, i had signed with nike, i was living on my own, i live to train, and train to live. this WAS my dream, now it's a reality.

2008 will be a good year...

th
just do it
hook 'em

ps. also, i'm going to keep a post about my weight... for myself to look back on mainly, but who knows... someone may find it interesting.

8am weigh-in: 201 lbs

Nicely put. I felt the same way after graduating from Michigan State. Except for the signing pro part. It'll be interesting to watch your blogs. Good luck in '08
