Track and Field Blogs - Trey Hardee

hey guys, happy to be back and happy to be see that indoor track is right around the corner. the guys at UT have started doing technical work and it's hard not to jump in and do some it with them. i love indoors, but sadly, i am going to sit this one out. i had a long outdoor season without much a what you would call a "base" last year and i don't plan on running thin come august this go round.

i've had a busy fall. first of all, i got a DOG!! his name is dignan (bottle rocket reference) and he's a black and tan miniature long-haired dachshund. he's still farting around, peeing on stuff, but he's too cute to stay mad at.

i did a bit of travelling as well. i got the chance to go to las vegas on an official usatf athlete retreat. it was great! i got some time off from some light training and won some money!

i also went hunting with my dad and some of his college buddies. i was up in "God's country", the great midwest. near champaign. lots of cold weather and plenty of walking.

i managed to make it home to birmingham for a week. spent one day in the car wtih my girlfriend and dignan, one morning at an elementary school speaking to kids, one day at birminham southern college working a track clinic, one day eating, one day in atlanta, and finally, one day driving back to austin. so not much of a "relaxing" vacation. but a vacation none-the-less.

then, last weekend i made it to reno, nv for the usatf convention. met a lot of people, went to a bunch of meetings, lost a little money, and ate some decent meals. it was cool to get involved and see how our sport is run from the top down.

now, i'm back in town and training hard again... this will be the first christmas vacation i won't be thinking about racing and competing in january. but i can't complain. i'm healthy, fit, strong, and excited about training.

just thought i'd drop a line and let everyone know how it's going here in austin.
