The third league meet, and the first 5K of the season. Unfortunately, I sort of overestimated the 1K more that I had to run this time, and went a little slower than I should've. I had way too much energy left at the end of the race, but my kick still wasn't enough to get me to where I should've been. But it's only the first race, and I have two more meets and conference to get my 5K down right. I placed 11th in the race and 10th for my team. Our first guy got sub-17 which is cool.

Today was also the first day I ran with my new spikes, (Zoom Waffle XC's). They're a little too big, but I like them better than my old spikes. I'll probably stick with them, but I may switch back if they don't work out for the next race.

And one thing I can certainly say is that I miss track. (Though I said that I missed XC during track season.) I miss track workouts, shorter long runs, and the races just being shorter. I'm really looking forward to track because I feel like I'd be able to smash the 5 minute mile right now with the shape i'm in. (I ended with 5:02 last Spring, which was very dissapointing.) Also, I want to run the 800, which is currently my favorite event. My PR in that was 2:14 last spring, and I ran a 2:11 at a makeshift invitational in August, and I'd only been doing distance all summer, so I think I could go sub 2:10 too.

But, I'll focus on the current season, and try to enjoy XC as much as I can...
