Spring is CLEARLY better than winter.

Through winter, I decided not to blog much because I hadn't really had any exciting or amazing races, and there was nothing good about it since I barely PR'ed in the 1600, and came nowhere near it in the 800m. I only really PR'ed in the 600 and 1000 because I didn't really start taking track seriously until spring started. I won tons of medals that season, but they were from getting 3rd or 4th in freshman/sophomore divisions. Nothing really that special.

First meet of Spring. Sub-5 ran with disgusting strategy (major positive split) earning me a 4:57. My first 1600m goal was taken down very easily.

And that basically set the stage. By the next dual meet, I tried taking the first 800m easy and then picking up the pace for the second, and that got me 4:51. I later ran 2:11 in the half mile for yet another easy PR.

My unexpected-to-run 400m goal of 56.9 also went down during an SMR relay where I ran 56.8 and handed off in second. Though our second leg was downright horrid (31 in the 200? Seriously?), we gained back ground with our second 200 leg, and then our 800 leg took the win for us.

But unfortunately at that point, I was worried that 4:51 would remain my PR for the rest of the season. I didn't break 5 during a 4xMile relay, and then I ran a 1500m in the same exact time I did last year. (Converts to a 5:03/5:04?).

Then the District Dual came. The meet wasn't really that much of a big deal to me. I did not expect a PR after running poorly for the past two meets. I took it out in 69 seconds. It was much faster than I would've liked, but coach had gotten mad at me during my 1500m for going too slow the first lap. This split was way off my PR, so I was hoping that coach would be happy. I came in 2:21 for the 800 split. I don't know how fast my third lap was, but it hurt, and it felt very slow. The last lap of course came down to a kick. My pack was 4 wide for the last 100 meters, and I managed to get 2nd out of us, and 4th overall. 4:46. I didn't expect to run that fast this season at all.

So now my only real goal left is 2:09 in the 800m. I think I can do it, even though I've tried and 2:11'ed twice. I'll keep going for it.
