Back to the Basics
January 6, 2008
Vacation is over and its time to get back into the routine. School starts Monday as does my first week at full mileage with 2-3 workouts. If everything goes according to plan; I will be hitting between 90 and 100 miles for the following 5 weeks leaving me primed for an assault on the USA Cross Country champs down in San Diego.
For vacation I went to Breckenridge Colorado and Southern California and while I had a lot of fun it will be nice to be back into a routine with out anything in the way of my daily runs. Its also nice not to have to run on ice and snow anymore like I was in Colorado. I was definitely reminded of how lucky I am to live in a place where it doesn't snow.
Following the USA champs and possibly World XC I am excited to get back into a Chico State uniform for the track season. I am looking forward to defending the team title at CCAA's and hopefully improving on our 6th place finish at D2 NCAA's from last year. This year NCAA's are at Mt. Sac so I'm sure I will have a few fans there helping me a long.
Following that are of course the Olympic Trials. While I have B standards for both the 5000 and the 10000, I am hoping that I can run the A standard for the trials and possibly the Olympic A or B standard in both the 5000 and the 10000. I'm not sure whether I will focus on the 5000 or the 10000 or both but If I get the chance I will probably go for the Double. The events are so far apart that I might as well.
Other than that I guess I'm done talking about myself for now. I would talk about the Denver Broncos (I was born in Denver) but they were a huge disappointment and didn't make the playoffs this year.
