Yesterday’s Run:
16 miles
Entertainment: getting George Michael’s song, “Faith” stuck in my head and trying to remember more than 4 lines from it.
QuiP: One & done.

Women’s Marathon Olympic Trials:
Very cool experience…not pleased with my performance.
QuiP: I was praying a lot for humility (true statement), that wasn’t what I had in mind (true statement).
Follow-up to quip: I’m thankful I don’t solely rely on my limited vision and understanding.

Current Running Smack Talk:
Mile battle between me and one of my brothers, who is currently getting back into shape. He dominates me in the mile and isn’t afraid to tell me.
QuiP: Call me and tell me what you run, I’ll put you on hold for a few minutes, come back and tell you that I just ran faster.
Return QuiP: (silence, I had nothing.)

Current Running Projects:
Build/improve speed
PR
Strengthen my perceived areas of weakness (eg. Flexibility, hip strength)

Music I’m currently revisiting:
Soul Asylum
QuiP: “We’ll create the cure, we made the disease… Did you satisfy your greed, get what you need/Was it only envy, so empty/Frustrated Incorporated.”

Most recent misuse of the word quip:
Quoting part of a song and labeling it as a quip.
QuiP: Don’t use words you don’t know how to use properly. It’s like putting on leather gloves to clean the toilet.

Next Race:
Freihofer’s 5K
Not sure what type of 5K shape I’ll be in, post-marathon, but am looking forward to racing.
QuiP: Get pulled along or get buried.

Current Non-running Projects:
Paint Room
Apply to school (part-time in the fall)
Get motorcycle out of the driveway
QuiP: An active mind is an active mind.

Next Workout:
1600-8x400-1600
Pace: TBA
QiuP: What’s the rest interval? (possibly my favorite detail of workouts)

“New” Artist I’ve been checking out:
Chris Garneau
QiuP: He has a sweet, but sold-out t-shirt, too!

Recent Running Thought:
Part of the reason I enjoy distance running is because it is hard work. Sometimes hard work is fun because it is hard. Sometimes it is just drudgery. I’m not sure where the dividing line is, but I’m sure it’s influenced by outside factors, mood, and goals…among many other things.
QuiP: Drudgery stinks. Fun is fun. Work hard, but make your running enjoyable…after all it’s too hard otherwise.

Recently learned items about teammates:
Mel: Chased down and caught a rabbit when only a wee tot
Des: Remembers a lot of George Michael’s “Faith” lyrics, but giggles at the word “jukebox”…an ancient relic in her mind
Dot: The new Brooks Element Sprinter shorts fit her excellently. She is a fan. Also, has a new found knack for animal analogies.

Running Shoes Worn the past few days:
Brooks Burn
Infiniti
Glycerin
Cascadia
