Over the past few months.more like 4 months.I've been ruuning a lot at 70 to 80% of my Max heart rate with an occasional track session once every 7-10 days of speed work to stay in touch with my race pace for the 800 which is around 33-34 secs per 200.I usually do about 4-6 of those after doing some real hard dynamic drills and strides.Hill has always been a main stay in my program,but now I've kind of stepped it up a little and really try to concentrate on getting in a hill session at least once a week.I… more »

I have but one goal in mind for the upcoming track season: break 15 minutes in the 5k. To most people, this goal might not be much, and understandably so. However, I believe this could mark a turn around for me. Reflecting back on the last year or so, I can't help but think of the many failures it brought. M - 5 miles in 37:30 (7:30 avg). T - 10.5 miles total. 3 mi wu in 22 min (7:20 avg). 4x100 w/ jog in 18, 16, 15, 15. 8k tempo on the track in 28:31 (5:42 avg). Splits - 5:50/5:46/5:43/5:39/5:33. 2 mi cd in 14:48 (7:24 avg). Perfect conditions, felt good. W - 9 miles total. Speed maint day + AE run combined. 2 mi wu in 15:00 (7:30 avg). 4x100 w/ jog in 16.7, 15.9, 14.5, 14.9. Then 4x100 with 2-3 min walk recovery in 13.0, 12.9, 12.9, 13.5.
