STart Over
October 26, 2007
Well, a lot has happened since my last post. My wife and I have a newborn. His name is Khadevis ZION Robinson. He is amazing but stubborn as heck. I have been lucky that my wife is very particular so she is willing to do almost everything. All I have to do is work, run, cook, clean, go shopping, wash clothes, pay the bills, run errands, follow her instructions and follow his instructions. Besides that, it is all smooth sailing. I LOVE IT. As far as training is concerned, things are going well. I was actually injured all of last… more »
Woke up, got out of bed, Dragged a comb across my head
October 24, 2007
When I talk to people about being a full-time runner they usually ask me what my day consists of. When I used to work 30 hours a week right after University I would be much more efficient at errands such as grocery shopping, laundry etc. Now those are events in my day. Also, since I have the time, meal preparation takes longer and I’ll bake cookies instead of buy them, those kind of things.

Weekend, Videos and Articles Oh MY!
October 21, 2007
Sorry I have not posted in a while and I promise I will get back in the grove of posting about the ins and outs of Flotrack if you want, so let me know. This past weekend in Cali at Mt. SAC was amazing for a couple of reasons. I guess have to talk about the meet it self first before I talk about what blew me away. Mt. SAC is like nothing I have ever seen before. 22,000 kids ran over two packed days. Most of the time there were three races on the course at the same time.....… more »
10,000 Maniac
October 18, 2007
I came to ZAP Fitness last fall, under trained and running behind everyone in races and practices. It took me almost 6 months to get fully adjusted to the training in the mountains, and the increase in mileage. I went to the University of Kentucky, a low-mileage type of program that focused mostly on middle distance running and speed work. Once I was acclimated to everything here, I started to come around at the end of the outdoor track season. I had a few successful races, knocking 6 seconds off my 1500 PR, 16 seconds off of my 5k, and… more »
'neath the cover of october skies.
October 14, 2007
October is my favorite month, no question. Perhaps it always has been, but I just officially came to the realization like 5 minutes ago. In my mind it’s the fulcrum of the year. Kind of like a Sunday afternoon, where you take a long breath, look back at the fond memories of the past week and prepare for the joys and rigors of the week to come. It has weight. School is in full swing, the leaves are turning, pumpkins are ripe, the summer is done and the holidays are preparing their viscous onslaught.

Ah, Cross Country and Death Metal
October 14, 2007
The cross country weather as arrived here in Blowing Rock, at least for now. Along with the weather came my first cross country race of the year, or perhaps it was the other way around.
But first, last weekend Jon and I ran a race in Erwin TN, home of the Apple Fest 4 miler. It was a road race and was the true definition of a rust buster. It is such a small, local race but every year there is some serious competition that shows up for the little prize money the race offers. This… more »

Hanging out at Zap
October 11, 2007
Hey guys, so this is our second day at the Zap fitness center. This is a great place to come relax and get away from the city. The fresh air is amazing and the temperture is about 30' degrees cooler than it is in Texas.
It has now been been close to about 8 weeks since the world championships, and I have now been training for about 3 weeks for Cross-country. Even though Cross might not be my strong point in running, I am really looking forward to having a great season, and getting back into good race… more »

hello to anyone who is reading this. first blog of the year, and ill try to keep people updated with things goin on with me, on the track and off... but on the track is the main thing;)
my last race was in uden, the netherlands... hmm around aug 4th or 5th. i took a few weeks off and got back to training. thankfully this year i didn't have any main injuries when the season ended. just the basic aching on the body and feet of most seasoned runners.

The following is true tale of the best prank that has ever been played on me. I will start from the beginning so everyone can get an idea of who the players were and why this prank happened.
One spring day in 2003 my university of Guelph roommate, Robin Bourke, came home from the library and showed myself and my other roommate, T-Bone, a note he discovered on his books upon returning from a study break in the library. The note said something on the lines of “Hi, my name in Lindsay. I am in your… more »

insomnia at 10pm
October 3, 2007
i don't know if you can classify it as such, but i've been trying to go to bed for almost 3 hours. black. complete silence. a cool 73 degree room. the only thing that keeps me from dreaming something really awesome, that i don't even know about yet, is rehearsal. it's a habit i get into the nights before competition. but not in the fall. which is why i'm writing this. i go over each event in the decathlon one by one, mentally practicing it as if it were about to happen. i get goose bumps and adrenaline rushes all… more »
Take time with a wounded hand, cause it likes to heal
October 2, 2007
Since my last race a few weeks ago I've been laying low, getting fat, hanging out with friends, skateboarding and mountain biking. I also had a check-up with the doctor who works with the National Endurace Centre here in Guelph. In the check-up I mentioned that my right foot has been hurting for about a year and a half, not enough to stop running but enough to cause pain if I step on uneven ground. So she decided it would be best to get an X-ray and bone scan to rule out anything serious. During the bone scan last thursday… more »
One Season Ends and Another Begins...

...but, not without some good R&R first!!
So my season officially ended at 1:08:52.9 PM EST on Saturday afternoon, good enough for 2nd place at the 5th Avenue Mile, just 0.2 seconds behind Alan Webb.
It was a great way to cap off a somewhat mixed bag of a season. After a very disappointing 11th place finish in Berlin, I came back strong the next week with a 5th place finish in the World Athletics Final in Stuttgart. As was the case this past weekend, Alan just piped me at the line there as… more »
