11 PM Austin, Tx:

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. I headed to Chicago after NCAAs in Terre Haute and had a great holiday eating and laying around my house. Thanksgiving was always the best holiday in college because your cross season just ended so you were on a break and you didn't have to run and you could eat whatever you wanted because indoor seemed a world away.

Recently we started to allow user video uploading and we have featured a couple of them on our homepage and we will continue to… more »

Quick update from Manchester before I get some Turkey. Round two as I've already celebrated Canuck Thanksgiving in early October.

Beautiful day, 16 C (61F) and sunny so I thought everybody would run fast. It wasn't really the case though as the race strung out before the 3 mile mark and almost everybody was running alone. I was about 15th at the 2 mile mark and Fagan was way ahead in first, he killed it up the hill and gapped the pack. I picked off a few guys on the downhill before the 3 mile mark and… more »

Hello again everyone!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Sorry for taking so long to blog again. Well, I have not been up to much other than training. It has been going well, I feel very strong right now in my fitness. I have been training in Washington, but I came home to Dallas for the next six weeks. I’m so happy to be home and spend this time with my family.
I’m actually at my Aunt’s house right now smelling the Thanksgiving food cooking!! Every thanksgiving morning for the past six years my family and I run in the Turkey Trot.… more »

So I saw Mark this past weekend in Indiana for the XC National Championships and he gave me a pretty hard time about not writing for so long! My student teaching, training, and helping coach has given me a legitimate excuse for my lack of spare time (but I still feel bad that it's been a while!) and I'm
a l m o s t done! so close!! I'll graduate on December 14 and I can hardly wait. My husband has been teasing me about counting down the days while I'm teaching. He thinks that students should be… more »

Road Racing

The road racing scene is something that is relatively new to me, being a track runner. However, I do find myself really enjoying the atmosphere of running on the roads. Last year I was a total newbie to road racing, and this year I am hardly seasoned vet, with a whopping 4 under my belt. Four of us from ZAP went down to the Ntelos 8k in Richmond, VA last weekend to race.

The race is notoriously fast, with the course being a slightly net downhill, due to the enormous cliff you drop off the last 1/2… more »

The Chico Way

November 13, 2007

omorrow there will be 14 athletes and 3 coaches flying from Chico out to Joplin MO to tear it up. Later that evening there will be a couple dozen crazy fans making the ritual trek across this vast country to make sure that everyone in Joplin knows who Chico is.

This is the first time I will be in a rental van instead of an airplane on the way to the big dance (except when it was in CA). 30+ hours of asphalt, gas stations and shifting radio stations are what I have to look forward to… more »

New York, New York, is everything they say

Big weekend!

Our adventures started off on Thursday evening when seven us left Guelph and drove for 3 hours to spend the night in upstate NY. On Friday we drove another 6 hours (passing through Scranton, PA) to get to NYC. We decided to stay in between Van Cortlandt Park, where we were racing, and Central Park, where we watched the trials. That put us right in the middle of the Bronx in a cheap Howard Johnson.

Watching the trials were tons of fun, so many people were out watching the race. It… more »

hello people, hope all is well. first i want to start off sending my condolences to Shay family. I got to know Ryan for a short period over the past two summers in Leuven, Belgium. A group of us stayed in there in 2006 and that is when I first met Ryan and Alicia. I must say they were stuck at the hip in a very loving way. The bit I knew of him , he was a caring person and a fun loving guy. I remember us all in the kitchen eating our muesli and everyone in the kitchen… more »

been a few weeks since my last post... i know you guys were all dying to know what i was up to. well, let me quench those seemingly insatiable thirsts for my whereabouts..... i'm still living the dream.

and every time i forget how great i have it here in austin, my parents or some random person tells me how hard it was for them right out of college. i've been extremely blessed the past few years since coming to the University of Texas. it's hard to express anything other than thankfulness when i sit back… more »

First Blog

It is a little weird to have your first blog be at the end of a season but it is what it is. 2007 was an amazing year for me that started with a 34 second PR in the 5k in February and is ending with my first Team USA team in November. When I went to college I had goals of breaking 29 and breaking 14 and being a professional/semiprofessional runner by the time I graduated. However, once I got here I improved at a rate far faster than I had anticipated and I’ve already reached my original goals… more »
