to all the people talking about oregon winning the national championship, i know you guys are all distance runners so you don't know that events other than 800-10k exist, but oregon's ashton eaton, who will be a junior next year, won the decathlon at ncaa's this year and will be a heavy favorite next year so there's 10 more points barring a disaster. kind of a moot point since as stated rupp/wheating have almost no shot at doubling, but oregon is definitely a team to look out for in the future with a lot of good young guys

Why do they have to be wasting their time on soccer fields? What if they know they are good runners but don't enjoy it, and do love playing soccer? How is that a waste?

Dan Suher posted the worst comment in the history of flocasts.

Dan Suher - How do you suppose Wheating will double when he would have to run 5 races over three days, two of the days doubling back and still throw out that he would win both finals? Think it throw a little man.

Hank went into the Grocery store and relized that his he did not love his wife and she did not love him. He took the kids that night and travelled by train to New Mexico.
To ?: He is saying in track, as a team, and you figure if they both double wheating in the 8/15 and rupp in the 5/10 (assuming he is back) thats 40 points, perhaps the double for rupp is less realistic so lets say 30 points, then add in a few more points from acosta and some others and I think a team title which normally takes around 60 points is fairly realistic, or at the very least a podium finish.

i like him a lot more after seeing this interview. despite his unbelievable talent and the amount of support and help he has had he seems like a very down to earth guy. i wish him the best in beijing.

I mean... im just saying... This guy is a spitting image of Link from the original Legend of Zelda series on the Nintendo.

It's amazing to think how many Rupps are out there waiting to be discovered. He's clearly got the physical gifts, but he also has the mental makeup to succeed in the sport. With the support of Nike and U. of O. he will go far. While I wish every runner could receive such support, I don't begrudge the guy, as some have been doing, for taking every advantage he's offered. More power to him. This guy will do great things.
REL-- That is exactly what is happening at the High School I graduated from. They got a soccer program after I graduated and now the track program, which was very good is now very bad. Lots of kids go out for soccer and they have a hard time getting kids out for track. They do both sports in the spring. I was wondering the same thing about all the converted soccer players.

Deffinatly great that he's going to Beijing. To the others let's save the negative BS for letsrun.com not here. Plus Galen still lives near home it just so happens that home is close to Alberto Salazar who was his HS or Junior HS coach... I can't remember which. So it's not the home thing. I personally have never seen anyone not race for almost the entire season and then make the USA team. I think it was a lack of racing that got Webb.
your fan always!!!!
