Beijing 080808 Video Contest

The Beijing Games are the most anticipated Olympics in a generation. The once closed country of China has invested billions of dollars to throw the biggest and best coming out party the world has ever seen. TrackandFieldtours.com and Flotrack are teaming up to get you and a friend to the Olympics. TrackandFieldtours.com is the best way to catch all the track action in Beijing. It's so good that a lot of their clients are the athletes' family and friends. Track and Field Tours owners, Adam and Jessica Dailey were both Footlocker finalists and ran at the University of Arkansas who, like us at Flotrack, saw a need in our sport and decided to do something about it. The best uploaded video will win a track fans dream vacation, a trip for two to the 08 games with tickets to the track events. For more info about the wining prize and about the community's own Adam and Jessica Dailey click Track and Field Tours.

Win a trip to the 2008 Games in Beijing, China! Get your videos ready because the best uploaded video wins a pair of flights, hotel accommodations and tickets to the track competitions at the 08 Beijing Games. The contest is sponsored by Track & Field Tours. Visit their website at trackandfieldtours.com

Rules

  1. The Best uploaded running/track related video wins 2 tickets to see the '08 Beijing Games.
  2. You can upload as many videos as you want.
  3. The winning video will be picked by the track community based on the number of votes it receives.
  4. The contest will be in 2 phases: Those who upload a video before Feb 12, 2008 and those who upload videos afterwards. The top 6 vote getting videos from phase 1 and the top 4 vote getting videos from phase 2 will move on to a final voting competition. The video that gets the most votes from these remaining 10 will be declared the winner.
  5. We do not care where you are from... but here is the catch: If you are not from the US. we will only put up to $3000 USD for both of your tickets.
  6. To win you must be 18 years or older or you must be accompanied by an adult
  7. The contest is sponsored by trackandfieldtours.com. Winner will receive 2 airline tickets, hotel accommodations, and tickets to see the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Comments like that, however much i might agree with them, are only begging for the jeers and criticisms of others. I'm not saying to deny your faith, just don't be so cheesily blatant with it...

How about commenting on the quality of what's being presented here and leave comments out that encourage people to post unnecessary comments about ones beliefs. We are not to judge who is "better" than who. Let the video speak for it's self. It's about working hard...having faith...having a goal..and doing your best. This video captures that. Very nice. Good job.
reply

natas,

am i a sinner for wanting people to stop posting comments like the one you just posted? i think not. saying things like "a vote for this video is a vote for Jesus" is ridiculous. we are voting for quality of storytelling, editing, etc - it isn't a "vote for Jesus" contest.

fact: when the same group of athletes who won a cc team championship don't have an amazing track season, it HAS to be linked to money.

money buys results. (but those results don't transfer from season to season)

I Love Jesus Too   May 15, 2008 at 8:58pm
i am going to have to disagree and potentially fire up a lot of people on here but not giving this particular video a 6 and giving another one votes doesn't mean you would be voting for satan. there are plenty of good videos (common thread, my fav so far) that are good videos and represent the spirit of the contest well. i believe that this video is good and does the same, but does not fly solo in this aspect.

wrapping it up, just because a piece of video fails to have God in its context does not necessarily mean it's against God.

i agree with the last post. i think it is great that there is a video that glorifies God (i gave it votes) but also don't think voting for other videos makes anyone a worse person. it is good to keep a contest like this more objective than theological. let's not ruin the integrity of the contest by pointing condemning fingers at other users

I can assure you the guy who made this video never intended it to become a forum for people to bash or put down one anothers beliefs. It's about running. He put it together as a tribute to his teammates, coaches and their families so they could look back on the incredible experience they had. So they pray...that's what they do. They also trained hard...ran hard...had a goal and accomplished it.
Don't make this about something it's not.

Hey man, remember...It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
(I think some great boxer dude said that) Good luck. Hope you make it to China.

This team has a great story to share here and it would be dishonest to exclude how integral their faith was to their experience. If this film has a Christian theme, it's because it was genuine for the people portrayed in it, not because they decided that you needed to be preached to while they were on the starting line at a national meet.

it's obvious having a huge christ-loving network pays off when it comes to building a voting block. praise the lord!

The internet degrades us all. Not one you would say any of these comments to the creator if you had to say them to his face.
reply
Welll   May 21, 2008 at 3:10pm
Im sure some of them would say it too the creator's face.
And response to the Naia are a bunch of... comment assuming that comment was negative; naia will be the ones with all the track programs and all the xc programs when all the ncaa schools decide to give all their money to football and get rid of their track and xc programs. I also would guess in 10 or so years divII and divIII schools that dont have football will have the best programs with the fastest kids. Because your precious no naia schools can figure out how to fund the programs effectively.

CCU   June 14, 2008 at 12:40am
this is a pretty weak video to have made it so far...100s of cross country teams across the nation have similar videos (and half the budget you guys do)
reply
Why???.....   June 14, 2008 at 2:13pm
CCU and other people who feel they have to post comments like this on any of the videos....why??? What's the point? This video and the other 9 who are going on, must have meant something to a lot of people to have "made it this far". Budget you say? Budget's don't form team unity and friendships....character does that. Yes, there ARE 100's of cross teams with similar videos and similar stories, that's why so many can relate to this video and many of the other ones as well. Weak...it's only weak if you've not had the experience.
