Day 2 - At the Track
The Track in Leuven is the training ground for the Americans, like Alan Webb and Amy Mortimer, The Kiwis, Irish and Belgium. It is quite a site to see all these athletes working out on a 6 lane track that has huge curves with hardly any straight aways. It is normal to see the athletes that are not working out to just hang out around the track just to watch the workout or pick up a watch and help time one. Check out the video and see what I mean. THe music is by Josh Fix and the song is "Don't Call me in the Morning" To hear more Josh Fix go here JoshFix.com
Ian Dobson Workout
Here's a workout with Ian Dobson while we were in Leuven in July. Just some maintenance work as he prepares for some upcoming European races and the Beijing Olympic 5k.

Day 8 - Dorm life with Ian Dobson
I caught up with 2008 Olympian Ian Dobson to check out his crib (if thats what you want to call it) here in Leuven. Most of us stay on campus in University housing. Ian, Sara Hall, and Jen Rhines are just off the campus in a nicer 'dorm-style' apartment. Check it out!
Day 18 - Last Day w/the Stache in Leuven
It was my last night in Leuven and wasn't sure what I had to look forward to. That soon changed when there were rumors of Will Leer parting with his famous Mustache started to spread through the court yard. There was a lot of talk and I wasn't sure if he would be man enough to go through with it. What do you think do you think he did??? The last night in Leuven was a memorable one, I hope you guys enjoy.

Travel is Back!
Its travel time again, but this time I need some help!
Day 5 - Brugge with the Boys
Sorry I'm a day or so late with this one, its been busy traveling around to get these meets and late nights!
Brugge is referred to as the 'Venice of the North' because of its canals through the city. Its got a bunch of old castles and plenty of CHOCOLATE! Hope you guys enjoy this one! (And hope some of the sound problems have been fixed)
Day 7 - Ride to Heusden Meet
Here's a video from the ride to Heusden the other night. I tried to talk to some of the athletes about there races and the meet in general. I also got some footage around the track and tried to give you an idea of what was going on. Hope you enjoy and don't forget to check out the races and interviews HERE!
Day 4 - Quick Question for the CU Boys
Something's going on in Boulder....what is it??
Day 13 - Last Belgian meet w/the crew
This was the last meet that I'll be going to the group in Belgium. This was over in Oordegem. It was sad, but we got through. It was the first ever live European event Flotrack as done. Got more videos to come, hope you enjoy!
Day 17 - Get to Know Bolota Asmerom
While in Leuven I got to meet Bolota Asmerom. Here is a great runner that has an awesome outlook on things....running and life in general. Listen to what he has to say and get to know Bolota. We look forward to seeing big things from him in 2009.
Day 3 - Bus ride to Liège
So nothing too crazy here, but wanted to give you a quick glance of what its like when riding up to the Belgian meets. Also, its cool to see what the track is like. Its not a super huge venue but they have some different amenities that we do not have in the US.
My favorite part is that there is always music playing and they turn it up pretty loud in between events. It keeps the blood pumping and you forget that you are waiting for the next race to begin!
Beats by Honey Claws.
Day 10 - Meeting at Brasschaat
Day 11 - Leuven Kebab Feast
So we're back tracking a few days.....
I was hungry and luckily Ben Bruce was around. He recommended what he said was the best Kebab deal in town....so I went with it. The Kebabs did not disappoint and the sauce was AWESOME! Sorry if you get hungry, but I had to share with you.

Day 1 - Leuven, Belgium
A long trip from austin to leuven in Belgium... Europe Day 1.
Day 14 - Journey to Monaco
A bus, train and a plane ride later a trip to the land of fast cars and private yachts, is it Monaco or Monte Carlo? Either way this was a journey to get to the 2008 Herculis Super Grand Prix Meet. It was definitely an awesome trip!
Day 15 - Inside the 2008 Herculis Super Grand Prix
Monaco is a crazy place! Tons of money, cars, boats, and beautiful people. The meet that is held here is great and treats athletes very generously from hotels, to meals, to transportation. It was exciting to get an inside look at what a Super Grand Prix meet is like. If you ever have a chance to get to this meet I definitely recommend it!!

Will Leer on his travels to Europe
Will Leer talks about what he's gotten out of his first trip as a runner in Europe.
Day 9 - Billy Nelson says goodbye
Billy Nelson, formerly of UColorado, talks about his first European tour before he takes off for Beijing and his first Olympic games. Billy was hoping to run sub-8:20 before the Games but after he hit a barrier he was only able to tie his PR of 8:21 (just behind Kyle Alcorn).
We also talk about the American Record (Dan Lincoln 8:08) and the chances of breaking it in the future.
Good luck to Billy out in Beijing!!
What does coming to Europe mean
Interviews with Ryan Bak, John Jefferson, Samia Akbar, and Keira Carlstrom about their experience of racing in Europe.
Ian Dobson Interview
Flotrack sat down with Ian while he was training in Leuven, Belgium to ask about the differences of training overseas vs. at home in the US. He also discusses how its different this year knowing he's already going to the Olympics and doesn't have to "chase" any time standards. Ian goes over what he hopes to get out of his running and some of his long term goals for his career. However, his goal for now is to get into that Olympic 5k final.
Follow Ian thru the 1st round of 5k competition on Wed, AUG 20th @ 6:15pm (Eastern Time in the US).
Final Thoughts From Europe
Thank you to everyone for following the EURO Trip and I hope you took something away from it. I have been thinking about the trip and what it meant to me so I just wanted to share with you. I hope we're back in Europe next year to bring you more.
Keep training, running hard, and reach for your goals!
Day 19 - Back to the US
My journey back to the States was not the easiest thing I've ever done, but I eventually got there. Here's a little look on what it took to get back after 23 hours of travel.
I hope everyone enjoyed the trip. It was a blast and everyone I met was great so I thank them for everything. If I am back next year I swore that I would run in the last meet on the Belgian circuit so if I am there next year, I better get in shape!
