I'm glad to see him hanging in there. I don't know enough about his situation to comment about his coach or his training, but I hope he's figuring out some way to turn all that talent into an ability to win races consistently. Best of luck to him. |

Looks like he is trying to put up a front that he is happy and over the disappointment of the trials...he looks like he is numb though, and probably depressed. |

Although I have not been a Webb fan, I've got to give the guy credit. This can't be easy. After what must have been incredible disappointment from his recent results, the guy has picked himself up, dusted himself off, and re-entered the ring. This is character building and is how champions are made. We all know talent and physical ability have never been the issue with Webb. |

Isn't it about time that this guy grew up...moved out of his parents house and got a real coach...even a girlfriend might help. He comes off as someone stuck in junior high and his choking in the meets that count underscores his lack of maturity. |

I dont think anyone is questioning Alans ability or talent, he is certainly one of the best we have, but I do agree its time for him to get a good coach that wont hold him back to be able to reach his full potential |

i think coach gagliano would make him one of the top milers of all time if he had him as his coach! train w/ nick symmonds and learn how to race at championship meets. |

Give the guy a break!! He was injured and no one on this comment blog has run under a 3:50 mile. Anyone as myself who has competed at the NCAA level and beyond understands how hard it is to run injury free. When one does become injured it is viciously frustrating. You can tell the dissapointment on Webbs face. So no one posting comments should judge unless they have truly understood and experienced the pressure and spotlight which Webb is under. Those who truly love the sport understand were I am coming from. |

PM. You are surely entitled to your opinions. I do remember hearing about another race that was setup for someone to run fast. Something about a guy named Bannister and him trying to run under 4 mins. |

Let's face it Alan is a bust....always comes up short when it counts. I have no respect for his American record either, which to my understanding was run in a race setup for him just to break the record. Guy can't hold a candle to Steve Scott or any of the other great American milers who were successful on the world scene. |

Sd i dont really agree. last year webb ran the rounds at USAs and Worlds. worlds was the only race he didn't preform as well in. and dont forget he's already made it to the olympics so he definitely has the championship racer in him. things just seem to be off right now, but he'll get back on track. i think its important to remember that alan is human. we all want him to be superman, to win everything, and to never have a bad race....but in reality it happens to everyone at some point. these are also things that help some athletes elevate even higher. alan's had ups and downs and bounced back to do great last year. i have no doubt he'll do the same again. he just has to remember to be confident in himself and know that everyone is still behind him no matter what the critics say. |

I don't think he needs a new coach, he's just not a championship runner. I believe this is something he really missed out on by not staying in college and instead turning pro. There is an art to running rounds and putting together 3 solid races over 4 days. No amount of coaching can provide that, it's simple experience. Unfortunately, instead of gaining that experience at the NCAA's, he's gaining it on the world scene. |

A few weeks to late. He's an interesting guy, I must confess. I agree with a previous post saying that I do wish for him to succeed, but for some reason I get the feeling this season is not going that well especially to his liking. One this that is pretty consistent is when he takes the lead or sits up with the leader in 2nd or 3rd he ends up racing well. On the other hand, when he sits in the back like the 800, he struggles. I would be surprised if he left his coach, they go way back...but he definitely needs to get his racing tactics straight. Nice to see him drop a fast time though. |
