Leer started out as a mediocre beach volleyball player at Pomona College with a modest vertical and an uncanny ability to set the ball over the net. He started jogging with the cross country team in order to provide an excuse for his poor beach performances. After walking during some of his first runs as a member of PPXC (the Ridge can be daunting to newcomers), he decided to put beach on the back burner and focused mainly on the 40 shot put and 8/15 combo. He got inked and now he just breaks records. |

In Holland not many people know Prefontaine but we also recognise an old national hero in William Leer: Jos Hermens (27.41 in 10K '77). On the dutch running website losseveter.nl they show a nice comparison, check it out: |

i can't help but think Foo Fighters every time I see this dude. He is great for American Track and Field. If the networks paid more attention to the whole sport rather than just the stuff they deem important then people could follow the personal side of the sport...much like Flotrack has done. GREAT job guys!!! |

Minnetonka, MN? That's also where former great marathoner, Bob Kempainen lived and trained. Wonder how his medical career is going now. These Will Leer interviews never get old. |

Leer only started running as a Sopre in High School and ran more 800's than 1600's. PR's in high school were 1:54 / 800 and 4:16/1600. A summary of his times throughout the years are listed on his Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_Leer Leer has been coming on strong the past couple of years and is an exciting up and comer representing the 952! |

Got any HS times or accomplishments? Was he a FL finalist or anything? Was he a DIII champ...what kinds of times. I know he runs for OTC and Gags, but he seems to have come out of nowhere (at least on my radar) kinda like Steve Sherer did this year. Good to have him battling for good times and good to have him on flotrack of course |

The as-yet-to-be-crowned unofficial star of Flotrack European Adventures Season 2...imho. Last year, Andrew Carlson won it really with one line "30% chance of rain, 100% chance of pain" in announcing the Flotrack 800. This year, Leer is the total man. |
