Galen Rupp will be opening up his indoor season this weekend at Washington, but he won't be doing his typical events. In an effort to work on some speed, we'll see him in the 800 and mile. Flotrack's Kevin Danaher caught up with Galen at the Oregon XC Banquet.

4:04 mile, 1:54 800. Not saying he can't run faster, but this early in the season...these are my predictions for this particular race. |

That's just it. I don't see him breaking 4 on this particular run. I predicted 1:55 for the 800 under the assumption that he is running it second and will probably be focusing much more on the mile. As far as capability goes, I think he could potentially go 1:50 to 1:51 for the 800 and 3:56 for the mile. |

I guess I'm a little surprised he's running for Oregon this semester, honestly. Does anyone know how close he is to finishing his undergrad? and what about his plans for outdoors? |

Alright, let's see some predictions for the mile and 800. Given that he appears more focused on the mile, I'll say 4:04 and 1:55. I'm not saying that's as fast as he can go, but it's January indoors. |
