Chelsea Johnson comes into this season after being ranked 2nd in the US and 7th in the World in 2008. However, she never reached her goal of making the Olympic Team. This year she is working on new things, new techniques and trying to make her way to Berlin. She's currently ranked #2 in the US and #3 in the World and will look for a berth to World Champs in about 3 weeks when she heads to Eugene for the USA Championships.
Chelsea's coach is her Dad, Jan Johnson, who was the 1972 Olympic Bronze Medalist in the Pole Vault.

Why would you write such negative comments? Ok .......I am not a distance runner but I do not write anything negative like "this is so boring in me" on distant videos. Just because flotrack started with distance runners, why dis this when they are trying to diversify their website into the WHOLE sport of track and field. If this is not your 'cup of tea' then leave the disrespecting comments to your self. Distant running might really be your passion and love, so pole vault, other field events, and multi events are the passion of others! |

Yall should be ashamed of yourselves.. U would be suprised how many field event people use this site... Im a jumper and I PROUDLY use and LOVE this site. They post like 5 or 6 distance workouts in a row and I dont get on here and complain,,, but the second that they post ONE sprint or field event workout on here all of you distance runners get on here and complain. Thats just ignorant,,, (((This website IS NOT called FLOdistance either))),,,, its Flotrack and is ment to cover all events,,, all I ask is that yall be a little more tolerant and open minded about the other events... I love track and field as a whole and I like to see what is going on with and learning about some of the other events and the variety that is on here,, I even enjoy some of the distance workouts, and like I said Im a jumper... Keep up the good work Ryan yall are doing a great job... |

The technicality of this event is mindboggling. There are so damn many things that have to go just right to get to a new level. Plus, the event requires speed, strength, agility, flexibility, coordination and timing. I am a distance runner, but have so much respect for vaulters. SO glad flotrack got this in here. More of these technical events, floguys. Forget the losers below. True fans of the sport are fans of every aspect of the sport. |

If you are dependent upon watching elite distance runners' workouts for your own personal training regiment, then try this:Nice, Dan! You guys are doing the sport a service by posting ALL that you do, including this Pole Vault workout. Keep up the good work! |

Seriously

Some distance runners need to get over themselves. The site was not made to specifically cater to you and your interests. There are many aspects of the sport. I doubt many of those complaining have even attempted to pole vault. Do not devalue your fellow track and field athletes because you feel their event looks stupid or is unimportant. |

Let's not forget ANYONE can be a distance runner and run a marathon, 10k, or 5k. Thousands of people do it every weekend.I agree completely with most of your post except this part. Not everyone can be a distance runner. Sure, the average person can last running for 5 or 10 kilometers without passing out, but that isn't the same thing. I offer this analogy based on your claim. A man who runs a 5k race in more than 20 minutes is the same as someone who runs it in less than 15. Similarly a runner like myself with no training at technique can throw the javelin 90 feet and is the same as a thrower who is over 200'. No, anyone can "run" distance, but not anyone can be a "distance runner" |
