Description

The 2009 Boston Marathon is set to be the most exiting Boston Marathon for over 20 years. For the first time in over 25 years both the Men and the Women races could be won by an American. Not since Greg Meyer's victory in the 1983 Boston Marathon has an American male won the most famous marathon in the world and it has been 24 years since lisa Larson-Weidenbah won the 1985 Boston Marathon. In 2009 American phenom, Ryan Hall and 2007 World Champion Bronze Medalist Kara Goucher go after the Men's and Women's titles. 2008 Olympian Brian Sell will also toe the line to take a crack at the top five. All eyes will be on the American and the race is set for a competitive finish with the two Americans Ryan Hall and Kara Goucher going for the win.

Yo is anyone else having trouble watching the Boston marathon on universalsports.com. I think NBC should go F@ck themselves. And if anyone has ever found a video of 800 final from the most recent Olympics? Apparently NBC didn't think it was important to keep around because the lack of Americans in it.
i had the same problem too
i think its because you are using Firefox. I couldn't fix the problem so i used internet explorer and everything worked fine

Theses were two impressive performances worthy of praise and attention. These two amazing athletes have shifted the way Americans think of distance running. The sport is no longer dominated by Kenya and Ethiopia; USA is now in the picture.

maybe the critic below should start their own website for track and field and they can interview whomever they choose. Mark does a fantastic job on HIS website Flotrack. Thanks Mark

Yes, you should start Africaflotrack to make up for this mistake.

Flotrack, why no mention Merga or Rono? You know, the two Africans who KICKED HALLS BUTT? Apparently Africans aren't worthy of Flotrack coverage.

HALL is 30 seconds back of Merga, but in a fight for second right now

harry 3 years ago

hall will still break 2:08 if he runs his last 7 at 5 min pace

Dan Suher 3 years ago

Coming live from the press room with Mark...

Goucher is leading as they head to coolidge corner but there is still a pack of 6 including all of the main players.
Ryan has dropped back a bit, still in the top 10 as they approach Heartbreak, but Merga has made a huge move and has dropped the field
